Nowadays, the majority of students prefer to using electronic dictionaries because they considered electronic dictionaries smart and convenient to carry. Besides, it has many other potential function, such as taking photos, calculating, playing music, getting on line and play games. However, others hold total different views, saying printed dictionaries are equipped with a large vocabulary. And more detailed examples are given when the electronic dictionaries provide limited information. However, the printed dictionaries cost much less than electronic ones. Personally, I prefer electronic dictionary because it not only serve as a dictionary but also a calendar, media player, camera and timekeeper.

The other day after work, I was walking down the street while I saw a boy riding a nice unicycle, one of those bicycle with only one wheel. Dressing in all pink from head to toe, he was singing a song which was sounded like a kid’s song. I thought he must be total crazy. Just then, a lady dropped 20-dollar bill on the ground, but he didn’t realize it and started to walk away. The guy in pink picked out the money and gave it back to her. After that, he rode on but soon disappeared before the lady could thank him. How a strange and good guy!

In 1947 a group of famous people from the art world headed by an Austrian conductor decided to hold an international festival of music,dance and theater in Edinburgh. The idea was to reunite Europe after the Second World War.

Some people were killed when a huge explosion hit an industrial area of China, injuring hundreds of people. The explosion is believed to have come from a shipment of explosive inside a warehouse at about 11:30 pm local time (5:30pm in Britain) in the north-eastern city of Tianjin.

It was reported that the two explosions happened within 30 seconds of each other and about 100 fire trucks were sent to the scene, with most of the injuries caused by broken glass and stones. The firm running the warehouse was named by local media as Ruihai Logistics. The company says on its website that it was set up in 2011. It says it handles one million tons of cargos（貨物） per year.

The National Earthquake Bureau reported two major explosion before midnight local time---the first with an amount of 3 tons of TNT（三硝基甲苯）, and the second with an amount of 21 tons. Six thousand firefighters brought the terrible fire under control, although it was still buring . It was reported that the firefighters were combing （梳理）the neighborhood for the possible injured.

Failure is common in our life. No one can avoid them. When we fail in doing something, we often feel very depressing. Sometimes failure can make us lose hearts. So no one are willing to fail. Thank you for your last letter telling me your recently news. I'd like to tell you something about our school sports meeting. It was holding on October,20th, which was a fine day.

There were over 1,600 students and teachers attend it. Wang Lin, a student from my class won the 100-meter race. He finishes the race in 11.2 seconds and broke down the school record. They were all very excited. The sports meeting was great success. That was why we were all making every effort to our class honor.
