We can make mistakes at any age. Some mistakes we make are about money. But most mistakes are about people. “Did Jerry really care when I broke up(分開) with Helen?” “When I got that great job, did Jim, as a friend, really feel good about it?” “And was Paul friendly just because I had a car?” When we look back, these thoughts can make us feel bad. But when we look back, it is too late.
Why do we go wrong with our friends, or our enemies? Sometimes what people say hides their real meanings. And if we do not really listen, we miss the feeling behind the words. When someone tells you, “You’re a lucky dog!” Is he really on your side? If he says, “You’re a lucky guy!” That is being friendly. But “a lucky dog”? There is a bit of envy (嫉妒) in those words. What he may be saying is that he does not think you deserve (應(yīng)得) your luck.
“Just think of all the things you have to be thankful for” is another phrase(短語) that says one thing and means another. It could mean that the speaker is trying to get you to see your problem. But this phrase contains the thought that your problem is not at all important.
How can you tell the real meaning behind someone’s words? One way is to take a good look at the person talking. Do his words fit the way he looks? Is what he says shown by the tone of voice?  The look in his eyes? Stop and think. The minute you spend thinking about the real meaning of what people say to you may save your another mistake.

小題1:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)Did Jerry really care when I broke up(分開) with Helen? When we look back, these thoughts can make us feel bad.他感覺他的朋友不理解他, 故選B。
小題2:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)"You're a lucky dog"不就用來指人了嗎?所以,這是個(gè)明顯錯(cuò)誤的答案。 這道題也有很多同學(xué)選擇B:這句諺語的意思是你是個(gè)幸運(yùn)的家伙。但是第二段特別比較了”you’re a lucky dog “和”You’re a lucky guy”這兩句話的區(qū)別。后者是衷心祝福,友好的,而前者There's a bit of envy in those words(有一點(diǎn)嫉妒的意味),所以不能選擇B。故選D。
小題3:主旨大意題。根據(jù)我們通過略讀找到的位于段落開頭的三個(gè)段落主題句,可以發(fā)現(xiàn)答案是C。

“Our aim is to take our art to the world and make people understand what it is to move,” said David Belle, the cofounder of parkour (跑酷).
Do you love running? It is a good exercise, yet many people find it boring. But what if making your morning jog a creative one?Like jumping from walls and over gaps and ground rolls? Just like the James Bond in the movie Casino Royale? Bond jumps down from a roof to a windowsill and then runs several blocks over obstacles on the way. It is just because of Bond's wonderful performances that the sport has become popular worldwide.
Yes, that's parkour, an extreme street sport aimed at moving from one point to another as quickly as possible, getting over all the obstacles in the path using only the abilities of the human body. Parkour is considered an extreme sport. As its participants dash around a city, they may jump over fences, run up walls and even move from rooftop to rooftop.
Parkour can be just as exciting and charming as it sounds, but its participants see parkour much more than that.
Overcoming all the obstacles on the course and in life is part of the philosophy (哲理) behind parkour. This is the same as life. You must determine your destination, go straight, and jump over all the barriers as if in parkour and never fall back from them in your life, to reach the destination successfully. A parkour lover said,“I love parkour because its philosophy has become my life, my way to do everything.”
Another philosophy we've learnt from parkour is freedom. It can be done by anyone, at any time, anywhere in the world. It is a kind of expression of trust in yourself that you earn energy and confidence.

Mistakes are a part of life. To err is human. Failure is also a part of life, not the end of life. Be happy facing life’s challenges. When you make the effort to be happy and to improve your life, you are actually rewarded along the way.
Life is like a game and maybe you can award points for every effort that has been a success for you. Try it. Add ten points for every achievement. And when you have reached 50 points, just yell, “Hey, I’ve won!” and give yourself a reward. If you happen to have missed your points for whatever reason, tell yourself, “Well, I tried!” which is better than not trying at all. Don’t let it be said you didn’t try.
What is it that you want to make yourself happy? Actually happiness means different things to different people. For example, an athlete will be happy winning his first race. For a new mother happiness would be seeing her baby’s first steps. Happiness for a poor person would mean having a meal just for today. So happiness for you is really something simple that you want for yourself.
It really doesn’t have to be big. As a matter of fact, you should be always realistic(現(xiàn)實(shí)的). Make the best out of every given situation. If you expect a certain result from a situation and it does not happen, don’t get despondent. This just means trying harder next time. We all have in us the power to succeed. Don’t let “give up” be a part of your vocabulary.
小題1:By saying “To err is human”, the author means that____________.
A.human beings should try to avoid making mistakes
B.no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes
C.mistakes and failures make up our life
D.human beings make mistakes easily
小題2:What’s the main idea of Paragraph 2?
A.Try to reach 50 points.B.Try to get as many points as you can.

A.examplesB.numbersC.experimentsD.stories
小題4:The underlined word “despondent” in the last paragraph means____________.
A.frightenedB.disappointedC.surprisedD.excited

Many years ago, I pulled a family out of a burning car somewhere in Wyoming. Last week I received a telephone call from a woman who could not stop crying as she told me that one of my stories had saved her son from committing suicide. In closing she called me a hero.
That got me thinking about what a hero is. Was I a hero because I pulled a family from a burning car? If so, how could I be a hero just because I wrote a story that saved someone’s life?
Today I looked up the word “hero” in the dictionary to see exactly what it meant. It read “a person who does something brave” and also “a person who is good and noble”.
That statement impressed me more than the part about being brave. So I thought about something very important. And I remembered what happened to me years ago.
After my marriage of twenty years ended, I was in such a condition. I was within hours trying to get up enough courage to end the pain and misery. When I returned home, someone had sent me a card in the mail which told me how much they would appreciate me as a friend. That wonderful card probably saved my life. That person, without even knowing it, saved a life and became a hero.
The many stories I kept writing in the following years saved the life of a teenage boy. In turn that makes the person who sent me the card a double hero. I suppose that is why I fight so hard to help the children now living in orphanages (孤兒院). Most children come out of these institutions with a very hard and bitter attitude against the world. The gifts we send them let them know that they have not been forgotten. Hopefully, most of them will never hurt anyone because of the kindness shown to them by those of us who cared. If it works, we will also become "heroes".
小題1:The main idea of the passage is _______________.
A.why the writer should be a hero B.that everyone is a hero
C.whether the writer is a hero D.what a hero exactly is
小題2:Why did the woman call the writer a hero at the end of the call?
A.Because he asked her son not to kill himself.
B.Because he saved a family from a burning car.
C.Because his story saved her son’s life.
D.Because he was cute and kind to everybody.
小題3:What does the underlined word “it” in the last sentence of Paragraph 5 refer to?
A.The fact that the sender helped the writer.
B.The action of sending the card.
C.The wonderful card the writer received.
D.The fact that the sender was a friend of the writer.
小題4:According to the writer, who can be considered as a hero?
A.A person who is brave.
B.A person who helps someone in trouble.
C.A person who can hold a door for others.
D.A person who writes wonderful stories.

Are morning people born or made? In my case it was definitely made. In my early 20s, I hardly went to bed before midnight, and I would always get up late the next morning.
But after a while I couldn’t ignore the high relationship between success and rising early. On those rare occasions where I did get up early, I noticed that my productivity (效率) was always higher. So I set out to become a habitual early riser. But whenever my alarm went off, my first thought was always to stop that noise and go back to sleep. Eventually some sleep research showed that my strategy was wrong.
The most common wrong strategy is this: supposing you’re going to get up earlier, you’d better go to bed earlier. It sounds very reasonable, but will usually fail.
There are two main schools (流派) of thought on sleep patterns. One is that you should go to bed and get up at the same time every day. The second school says you should go to bed when you’re tired and get up when you naturally wake up. However, I have found both are wrong if you care about productivity. If you sleep at fixed hours, you’ll sometimes go to bed when you aren’t sleepy enough. You’re wasting time lying in bed awake.
My solution is to combine both methods. I go to bed when I’m sleepy and get up with an alarm clock at a fixed time. So I always get up at the same time (in my case 5 a.m.), but I go to bed at different times every night.
However, going to bed only when I’m sleepy, and getting up at a fixed time every morning are my ways. If you want to become an early riser, you can try your own.
