I have two sons. They are as different as night and day.My youngest is sweet, loveable, easy-going, and finds joy in everything. My oldest we’ve nicknamed the “Evil Genius” is ambitious, self-confident, and suffers no fools.
Whenever we mentioned Santa my husband and I were rewarded with major eye rolling and deep sighs from my oldest. At first we both tried to ignore it.
We both knew that our eldest had figured out the big secret. But I’d be damned(指責) if he was going to ruin it for his six-year-old brother who had plenty of Santa-loving years ahead of him.I looked at my husband in the eye and said, “I’ll handle this.” to which he responded “Okay just be careful because I’m not sure he knows - he might just be acting like it.” But I knew. And I had it in my mind that he was about to break his younger brothers spirit and break the news to him.I was afraid he was going to take the Christmas spirit away from my sweet innocent youngest and stamp all over it.I had to protect him.I needed to control this now before it got out of control.I rushed into the play room where my oldest was playing alone.I looked him dead in the eyes and said: “Well you know Santa isn’t real, right?” And as I stared at my eight-year-old son for what seemed like a long time of silence, his eyes started to fill with tears. And a tear dropped down his cheek when he screamed out, “He’s not?”
“Um well it’s not that he’s not real (shut up you idiot- stop saying he’s not real), but he doesn’t really make and deliver all the toys.Dad and I get some of them for you.So he’s real. He’s just got a little help from us.”
The Evil Genius wasn’t buying it.He just sat there looking at me with an expression of doubt.
You know when you make a terrible mistake but you can’t stop yourself from making it worse? That was me because I just had to know.I had to know why he had seemed to be over Santa. So I asked him why he rolled his eyes and sighed every time his father and I mentioned Santa, to which he replied that kids at school had been saying Santa wasn't real but that he still thought he was.

How to Write A Good Letter

Do you want to write a good letter? Here are two main secrets. Don't try to be fancy. Don't try to impress your reader. You will be successful if you follow these seven Cs.

Clear. Use short, direct sentences. 1. Talk as if the reader were right there with you. Above all, don't use an introduction.

Correct. 2. Don't guess, even for spelling. Refer to your dictionary. If you need to, check a reference book too. Use them as much as you need to.

Complete. Don't leave your points loose. 3. This is good organization too.

Courteous. Be friendly rather than overly casual. Present your information nicely even if you are complaining about something. In all letters, treat others as you want them to treat you.

Concise. Make each point as clearly and briefly as you can.

Conversational. This is really the secret of good writing. 4. Such a letter has a natural, friendly tone. Let your personality come through naturally.

Considerate. 5. Write about what you believe the reader needs or wants to know. Try to be helpful. This will build good feeling toward you.

The seven Cs are about writing letters. But how about school papers? Use the seven Cs. Write as if you are talking to your teacher or professor. You'll be surprised. You'll almost instantly become a good writer. And you might even enjoy writing from now on.

B. Think of the readers’ point of view as you write.

C. Make them easy to understand.

D. Include long sentences in your letter.

E. Make sure what you say is correct.

What I Think of Boxing as a Sport

Boxing is a popular sport.Newspapers, magazines and sports programmes on TV frequently cover boxing matches. It could be the toughest of all sports to survive. It takes boxers hours in the gym and years to develop the specific characteristics needed to be a great boxer.____1.____

It seems to me that some people, especially men, find it appealing because it is an aggressive sport. When they watch a boxing match, they can identify with the winning boxer. This gives them the feeling of being a winner themselves.____2.____ They do that because the boxer comes from their own country, and if “their” boxer loses, they often feel as if they have lost a fight themselves. It is a fact that many people have feelings of aggression from time to time, but they cannot show their aggression in their everyday lives.Watching a boxing match gives them a way of expressing it.

____3.____ Although boxers wear gloves during the fights, and amateur boxers even have to wear helmets, a kind of strong hard hat, there have frequently been accidents in both professional and amateur boxing, sometimes with dramatic consequences.Boxers have suffered from head injuries, and, occasionally, fighters have even been killed as a result of being knocked out in the ring.___4.____ They are usually in the form of serious brain damage, even if a boxer has never been knocked out.

To conclude, I am personally not at all in favor of aggressive sports like boxing.____5.___ We can celebrate more men and women from non-aggressive sports as our heroes in our society.I believe that the world is aggressive enough already! Of course, people like competitive sports, and so do I, but I think that hitting other people in an aggressive way is not something that should be regarded as a sport.

A. However, boxing can be a very dangerous sport.

B. Sometimes fans are rooting for a particular boxer.

C. In boxing, fighters are required to hit a moving target.

D. Many fans are drawn to the sport because they love the competition.

E. Perhaps that is the reason why successful boxers are treated as big heroes.

F. I think it would be better if less time was given to aggressive sports on TV.

G. Besides, studies have shown that there are often long-term effects of boxing.
