My Fellow Americans,
I have recently been told that I am one of the millions of Americans who will be suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease (老年癡呆癥).
Upon learning this news, Nancy & I had to decide whether as private citizens we would 36 this a private matter or we would make this news known in a 37 way.
In the past Nancy suffered from breast cancer 38 I had my cancer surgeries (外科手術). We found that after we told it to the public, we were able to 39 public awareness(意識). We were happy that 40 many more people went to have a test. They were treated in early stages and able to 41 to normal, healthy lives.
So now, we feel it is 42 to share it with you. In opening our hearts, we hope this might promote greater 43 of this condition. Perhaps it will encourage a clearer understanding of the individuals and families who are 44 by it.
At the moment I feel just fine. I’d 45 to live the remainder of the years God gives me on this earth doing the things I have 46 done. I will continue to share 47 journey with my beloved Nancy and my family. I plan to enjoy the great outdoors and stay in touch 48 my friends and supporters.
Unfortunately, as Alzheimer’s Disease 49 , the family often suffers a lot. I only wish there was some way I could spare Nancy from this 50 experience. When the time comes I am confident that with your help she will 51 it with faith and courage.
At last, let me thank you, the American people for giving me the great honor of 52 me to serve as your President. When the Lord calls me home, 53 that may be, I will leave with the greatest love for this country of ours and endless optimism (樂觀) for its future.
I now begin this 54 that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there will always be a bright 55 ahead.
Thank you my friends. May God always bless you.
Sincerely,
Ronald Reagan

I needed to buy a digital camera, one that was simply good at taking good snaps (快照), maybe occasionally for magazines. Being the cautious type, I fancied a reliable brand. So I went on the net, spent 15 minutes reading product reviews on good websites, wrote down the names of three top recommendations and headed for my nearest big friendly camera store. There in the cupboard was one of the cameras on my list. And it was on special offer. Oh joy. I pointed at it and asked an assistant, “Can I have one of those?” He looked perturbed (不安).“Do you want to try it first?" he said. It didn't quite sound like a question. "Do I need to?" I replied. "There's nothing wrong with it?" This made him look a bit insulted and I started to feel bad. "No, no. But you should try it," he said encouragingly." Compare it with the others. "
I looked across at the others: shelves of similar cameras placed along the wall, offering a wide range of slightly different prices and discounts, with each company selling a range of models based around the same basic box. With so many models to choose from, it seemed that I would have to spend hours weighing X against Y, always trying to take Z and possibly H into account at the same time. But when I had finished, I would still have only the same two certainties that I had entered the store with: first, soon after I carried my new camera out of the shop, it would be worth half what I paid for it; and second, my wonderful camera would very quickly be replaced by a new model.
But something in the human soul whispers that you can beat these traps by making the right choice, the clever choice, the wise choice. In the end, I agreed to try the model I had chosen. The assistant seemed a sincere man. So I let him take out my chosen camera from the cupboard, show how it took excellent pictures of my fellow shoppers... and when he started to introduce the special features, I interrupted to ask whether I needed to buy a carry-case and a memory card as well.
Why do we think that new options (選擇) still offer us anything new? Perhaps it is because they offer an opportunity to avoid facing the fact that our real choices in this culture are far more limited than we would like to imagine.

I once did a year of voluntary service in a residential home for people with learning disabilities. It was set in an English village deep in the countryside, quite different from my home in Sweden. One of my fellow volunteers, a girl from Tanzania, seemed a little unhappy, so I asked what the problem was. She told me she had a friend back home who had financial difficulties and maybe it was impossible for her to complete her university courses.
So this friend of mine had sent all her money to Tanzania to support her friend! This meant that she didn't have much food to eat and no money to go anywhere outside the village.
I was so touched and I felt I had to do something. So, during my next trip to one of the nearby towns I walked into a shop. I didn’t have much money left myself but I thought I'd buy her an extra box of chocolate we both liked and some rice. I started talking to the woman(also a volunteer)working in the shop and eventually told her about my friend.
The woman looked at me, amazed. “Does she eat pasta?” she asked. “Yes,” I replied. She immediately started loading a bag with pasta, cookies, and other things until the bag was full. “Give her this for me. It’s my treat!’’ I couldn’t believe it but accepted with happiness. As I left the shop to go home with my unexpected bag of food, I asked the woman her name. “Just Gloria,” she said.
Imagine my friend’s face when I arranged the gifts on my kitchen table and fetched her from her room to see! I had never seen her so happy! A few weeks later she found Gloria in the shop and thanked her in person.
These two extraordinary women really showed me what true kindness and compassion(同情)are, and the impression will stay with me for the rest of my life!

Good afternoon, principal, teachers and all students. It is my 31 to be here to give a talk to all of you.I have studied in this school for five years. In these five years, I learned one precious thing important not only to me 32 to all of you here, and it is “reading”.I can always gain knowledge from reading.Reading doesn’t not 33 up a lot of time but I gain a lot.Now I would like to share my reading experiences with you.
I once read a book Rare Air: Michael on Michael 34 by the greatest basketball player in the history, Michael Jordan. While we envy his great achievement in the basketball and business aspects, few of us focus on his spirit of persistence. In the book, he talks about his experience of how he walks on the 35 of success. In order to join the NBA, he put in every effort to strengthen his muscle, to improve his skills 36 training hard.Because of his efforts, he successfully entered the NBA.
However, he did not stop his training. 37 , the training was even stricter, 38 prepared him to deny the statement released by the public, ‘Michael is a weak guy!’ While the criticism against him diminished(減弱;變小), he worked even harder to achieve his next goal — the championship of the NBA.Finally, he succeeded.
People honor Michael as ‘God of basketball’ not only for his great basketball skills, but mainly for his spirit of persistence. While we admire his spirit, we can follow his spirit as well.Michael should be our example; we ought to learn from him.As long as we work hard, 39 is impossible.Bear in mind that all of you have the same quality.Nobody is born wise.Putting in effort is the only but effective way to advancement. My fellow schoolmates, before I go, I would like to encourage all of you that we should work as hard as we 40 .When you grow up, you may be the one who is admired by the community. My fellow schoolmates, let’s work hard together! Work for our future! Thank you.
