Earthquakes happen without warning(前兆). They can happen any time of a day, at any point during the year. When an earthquake is happening, you should know what you should do or not do.
Do NOT go outside. You could get injured from falling glass or parts of buildings. If you are outside, stay away from buildings and power lines(輸電線).
Stay under a desk, table, or other strong furniture. Hold on to it. Or stay in a corner of the building. Cover your face and head with your arms and cover your mouth with a towel or clothing. Stay inside until shaking stops and it is safe to go outside.
Keep away from windows, pictures or advertisements on the wall or the building, and anything else that could fall and hurt you. Most people get injured by falling things during an earthquake, not by the shaking itself.
Also keep away from a fire. You could fall down and burn yourself on the fire.
If you are driving when an earthquake happens, stop the car if it’s safe. Stay inside your car until the earthquake stops, and don’t drive near bridges. Try not to stop by power lines or trees. These could fall and hurt you.

American Classroom Rules
1. If the teacher asks a question, you should give an answer. If you do not understand the question, you should put up your hand and ask the teacher to repeat the question. If you don’t know the answer, it’s all right to tell the teacher that you don’t know. Then he or she knows what you need to learn.
2. There is no excuse for not doing your homework. If you can not go to school, you should call your teacher or your classmate and ask for the homework. It is your responsibility(責(zé)任)to find out what homework you have missed. It is not the teacher’s job to remind you of missed homework.
3. You must not be absent(缺席) on a test day. If you are badly ill, call and let the teacher know you will not be there for the test. If your teacher allows you to take a makeup, you should take the test within one or two days after you return to class. Bad illness is the only reason for missing a test.
4. Be on time! It’s not polite to be late. Also, it bothers other students. If you must come in late, be sure to do it quietly. Have your books out of your bag before you come into the classroom. Many people catch a cold in the spring time and / or fall.  It makes us wonder .if scientists can send a man to the moon, why they can't find a cure for the common cold. The answer is easy. There are exactly hundreds of kinds of cold viruses there. You never know which one you will get, so there isn't a cure for each one.
When a virus attacks your body, the body works hard to get rid of it. Blood rushes to your nose and brings congestion(充血)with it .You feel terrible because you can't breathe well, but your body is actually "eating" the virus. Different people have different remedies(治療法)for colds. In the United States and sane other countries, for example, people might eat chicken soup to feel better. Some people take hot baths and drink warm liquids.  Other people take medicine to stop the fever, congestion, and running nose.
There is one interesting thing to note - some scientists say taking medicines when you have a cold is actually bad for you.
