                                                          Dragon-boat Festival (端午節(jié))
     Dragon -Boat Festival all also called the DuanWu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month
according to the Chinese calendar. For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by eating Zong Zi and
racing dragon boats. To hold the dragon-boat races is in memory of Qu Yuan, one of the greatest poets (詩人)
in China. 
     Qu Yuan was born in Zigui of Hubei Province over 2,200 years ago. Qu Yuan was an honest minister
(大臣) of the State of Chu, during the Warring States Period (475-22 l BC) (戰(zhàn)國時期). He was upright and
wise. He wanted to bring his country peace and make the state more stronger, but the country was in the hands
of bad officials,he failed．At last,he was very discouraged. (1) the Miluo River, throwing, he, into, himself, life,
by, his, ended. (2) 據(jù)說當時人們從船上跳下去試圖救他. But it was too late. Also, they were very sad and
they threw rice into the water to feed Qu Yuan's spirit.
     (3) Now we read his poem Li Sao which was filled with deep love for his country. We can see the
dragon-boat races and have a kind of Chinese food named Zone Zi to eat during the Dragon-boat Festival.

To protect the environment, China has put a ban(禁令) on thin plastic bag (plastic bag thinner than 0.025 mm). From June 1,2008, China stopped the production, sale and use of these plastic bags to the public.

Plastic bags can cause “white pollution”, because they can take 400-1,000 years to break down. They pollute the soil(土壤) and water. Plastic bags also cause a serious danger to animals. Animals often mistake plastic bags for food. Thousands of them die each year after eating plastic bags.

So what kind of bags will be the best to use when we are shopping? Recently some students made their own shopping bags. Most students used old clothes to make their bags. They painted pictures like the Olympic rings on them. But Li Mei had a more traditional way to make her hag. She weaved(編織) a bamboo(竹子) basket. It was not an easy job. With her grandfather’s help, Li Mei spent the whole afternoon making it.

thoughts and keep it by your desk. Read one or two thoughts each day.
      Is the glass half empty or full? Life works better when the glass is half full regardless of your life status.
     No matter how many wonderful things you do to create a positive, happy, satisfied life, you could still end
up unhappy. Ultimately, happiness, gratitude, a feeling of satisfaction is a choice. So, from now on, choose to
be happy!
