If you take away many sentences from somebody's written work as your own without permission, it's called plagiarism, but if you take the knowledge from a piece of work by another and change the words, then it's not plagiarism. This is the difference between using the Internet and plagiarism. If you are given homework to work out math problems, then you should use your brain without a computer! If the teacher asks you to learn something about a famous literary person, you can use the computer. If you take down the main important information of the task, it’s OK. However, if you run to the computer to do your thinking for you all the time, you don’t exercise your brain and you will forget how to work out a problem. By using a computer, students may get a useful answer fast, to finish homework, but when they have to face an exam, they will not be ready for it.
Though teachers say finding or buying homework answers online is not many in schools, an interview with school students shows only 10% hopes to finish their holiday homework by themselves. They complain that the homework is too much for them to finish. Besides, many of students have to go to all kinds of training classes during the holiday. These take away much of their time for doing homework. So they want to find or even buy answers online or copy each other's homework. Students should learn that being a student is about getting skills, but not just getting quick, cheap "answers" for homework problems. I mean we should use the computer properly.

Do you ever feel like you are just running from one activity to another? In school, do you rush from one subject to another?

When things happen so fast, it is easy to get lost of what you are doing or learning. It is important to stop yourself every now and then to think about what you’ve been doing or learning.

Self reflection means slowing down and calming (使平靜) yourself, including calming your mind. By being calm and going slowly, you give your brain a chance to think about what it has already received. Some people prefer to do these self reflections only in their mind. Others keep a diary or written notes. Either method works, depending on your own personal learning.

School textbooks are divided into units of study. This makes it easier for someone to begin self reflection. Look for time when you complete a unit of study in the subjects you are learning, such as math, science and art. Sometimes you know the unit is over because there is some kind of test. Use these natural breaks to stop and do self reflection.

Find a quiet place. You can even be sitting at your desk at school when you finish something early and the other students are still working. If you are going to take notes, take out paper or your reflection diary. Write down some notes on the new things that you learned in the unit. Let your mind think about the notes you have written and make some connections.

Next, think about things that you are not sure of. Maybe you learned a new way to work out a math problem, but you’re not sure when to use it. Writing down your questions will help you remember to look for answers the next time you are working with the same topic.

Self reflection is important for a successful student. If you have never taken the time to do self reflection, try it now.

53. We do self reflection to ____.

A. have more activities and subjects

B. make things happen faster and better

C. think about what we have learned

D. let our brain have a good rest

54. What can we learn from the passage?

A. Taking notes is necessary when we do self reflection.

B. It’s a good time to do self refection when we finish a unit.

C. Self reflection should be done after class in the school.

D. It’s easy for us to find answers when we do self reflection.

55. What’s the best title for the passage?

A. Self Reflection in Mind or Taking Notes?

B. Self Reflection Makes You A Better Learner

C. Why Not Try These Steps of Self Reflection?

D. Find A Good Time and Place for Self Reflection

閱讀下面材料,根據(jù)材料內(nèi)容從每題所給的四個(gè)選項(xiàng)中選擇最佳選項(xiàng)。
The first person who'd sent emails was an American friend who was in a big company. Some years ago,
when this method of communication first came into business life, his company in New York and its satellites
across the earth were among the first to get it.
One evening in New York, the American friend was late for a drink we'd arranged (安排). "Sorry," he
said, "I've been away and had to deal with 998 emails." "Wow," I said, "I'm really surprised you made it before
midnight." "It doesn't really take that long," he explained, "if you simply delete (刪除) them all."
The friend had developed his own way on dealing with emails before most of us heard of emails. If any
information he got was very important, his no reply would make the sender ring him up. If the sender wasn't
important enough to have his phone number, the communication couldn't be important enough.
Almost every week now, we have to spend lots of time in dealing with emails. But if this happens, it's only
because we haven't developed the same thing in dealing with emails as we do with post. Have you ever regarded
an important letter as a piece of advertisement and thrown it out? Of course you haven't. Junk (垃圾) email
looks unnecessary to read. But I cannot understand why so many people would like to open emails which come
from this kind of address such as SPECIALOFFER@junk.com.
Dealing with emails is an art. Firstly, you delete anything from any address you don't know. Secondly, not
all the emails have to be answered. Thirdly, a reply email doesn't have to be the same length as the original (原始
的).
1. Why was the friend late for the drink that evening?
[     ]
A. Because he had a lot of work to do.
B. Because he had to deal with quite a lot of emails.
C. Because he had to finish his work before midnight.
D. Because he had to delete quite a lot of emails.
2. What is the American friend's opinion on e-mails?
[     ]
A. He would get all the important information whether he replied the emails or not.
B. He would only reply the emails whose sender had his phone number.
C. He would only reply the important emails.
D. He thought communication through the phone would be better than through the emails.
3. Which of the statement is true according to the writer?
[     ]
A. All the emails should be answered.
B. A reply email should be the same length as the original.
C. To find an important letter among the advertisements is easier than to find an important e-mail among the
    junk emails.
D. Most of people would hardly open the emails from the address they don't know.
4. The best title for the passage is "_______________".
[     ]
A. Emails
B. An American friend invented emails
C. Emails changed our life
D. How to deal with emails

people don't break them into small enough pieces. So all we need to do is to try our best...
Have you ever watched a quitter in a boxing match-a man who just gives up and walks away? The
whole crowd boos. They throw drink bottles and bits of hot dog into the ring. They don't throw things
because he lost. They throw things because he quit. In our hearts we all believe that we should do our
best.
Eric Moussambani swam for Equatorial Guinea (赤道幾內(nèi)亞) at the 2000 Olympics. This was the
first time Eric had swum a 100-metre race. He swam with his head out of the water and he barely kicked
his legs. In the first lap he was really struggling (掙扎). In the second he was nearly drowning (沉沒(méi)).
But Eric was fighting with everything he had.
At the turn, the large audience began to shout and with every stroke (劃水) the noise got louder and

Even when you do your best, it is not certain that you will succeed. You may do your best, and still

They also want their children to take extra-course activities such as musical instrument learning or ballet classes, or other classes. They think these will give them a good future. The Chinese believe that the more expensive an education is, the better it is. So parents will spend much unreasonable money on education. Even poor parents will buy a computer for their son or daughter.
However, most parents don’t understand that the best early education they can give their children is usually very cheap.
Parents can see that their children are very good in some areas while poor in others. Parents can also see some children are good at these skills and others do well in others. Most parents don’t realize that today’s children lack self-respect and self-confidence.
The problem is that parents are only educating their children on how to take tests and how to study well, but parents are not teaching them the most important skills that they need are to be confident, happy and clever.
Parents can achieve this by teaching skills like cooking, sewing and doing other housework. Teaching a child to cook will improve many of the skills that he will need later in life. Cooking needs patience and time. It is an enjoyable but difficult experience. A good cook always tries to improve his cooking, so he will learn to work hard and finish his job successfully. His result, a well-cooked dinner, will give him much satisfaction and lots of self-confidence.
Some old machines, such as a broken radio or TV set that you give your child to play with, will make him curious(好奇的) and improve his interest. He will spend hours looking at them, trying to fix them. Your child might become an engineer when he grows up.
