題目列表(包括答案和解析)

One day, a teacher was speaking to a group of students about how to best use their time. He gave an example those students would never forget.

He pulled out a big bottle and put it on the table. He also took out about a dozen rocks and carefully put them into the bottle, one rock at a time. When no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, “Is this bottle full?”

Everyone in the class shouted, “Yes.” The teacher replied, “Really?” He pulled out of a bucket of very small rocks. He poured some small rocks in and shook the bottle. The small rocks went down into the spaces among the big rocks. He then asked the group once more, “Is this bottle full?”

“Probably not,” one of them answered. “Good!” he replied. He brought out a bucket of sand and poured the sand in the bottle and it went into all of the spaces left among the rocks. Once more, he asked the question “Is this bottle full?”

“No!” the class shouted. Once again he said. “Good.” Then he poured a cup of water in until the bottle was full. The he asked, “What is the idea here?” One student put up his hand and said, “The idea is, no matter how busy your life is, you can always do more things if you try really hard!’

Anne and Joseph are talking about an interesting question. Why do some people change their names? There can be many reasons. Hanna changed her name to Anne because she thought it would be easier for people to remember. On the other hand, Joseph is thinking about changing his name to an unusual name because he wants to be different.

People have a lot of reasons for changing their names. Film stars, singers, sportsmen and some famous people often change their names because they want names that are not ordinary, or that have special sound. They chose the "new names" for themselves instead of the names their parents gave them when they were born.

Some people have another reason for changing their names. They have moved to a new country and want to use a name that is usual there. For example, Li Kaiming changed his name to Ken Lee when he moved to the United States. He uses the name Ken at his job and at school. But with his family and Chinese friends, he uses Li Kaiming. For some people, using different names makes life easier in their new country.

In many countries, a woman changes her family name to her husband's after she got married. But today, many women are keeping their own family name and not using their husband's. Sometimes, women use their own names in some situations and their husbands' in other situations* And some use both their own names and their husbands'.

I'm Daniel,a high school student in England. My friend think I am a little unusual because I like reading poetry(詩歌)。They think I should spend more time playing sports or going out with them.Sometimes I do those things too,but reading poetry is an important part of my life.

Poetry helps me develope my mind. Some poems are very difficult to understand and it takes some time to get their meaning . When I first started reading poetry ,I wasn't very interested in it.But after a time,I found that reading poetry helped me to think more deeply.

Also ,I enjoy the beautiful words and pictures in poems . I find reading a beautiful poem helps me to relax. When I read Daffodils by William Wordsworth ,I can “see” a picture in my mind of all those beautiful yellow flowers and it makes me very happy.

Many people think reading poetry has no use. They say it is not part of real life and it is just a waste of time. This is not true. Many poems are about relationships and feelings .From these poems,we can learn about ourselves and how to become better people.one of my favourite poems is He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven by the Irish poet Yeats.

When I was seven years old, my family made me an ant(螞蟻)farm. First , we put clean sand in a thin glass box. Then we waited for the ants to arrive.

After the ants were in the glass farm, they started to make tunnels. I was amazed that each one knew exactly what to do. Each had its own job.

On the fifth day a tragedy happened. I put my face so close to the glass farm that I knocked it over.

All the tunnels fell down. Although the ants remained alive after their earthquake, one by one they began to die. I was scared as I watched them give up building their tunnels to carry the bodies to a corner of the farm .

My mother said that the ants were dying of sadness . They simply could not stand that their tunnels were gone.

Although much time has passed , I still think of that ant farm. Mom had hoped it would teach me about the natural world , but it taught me much more.

Over the years, I came to realize the importance of teamwork . Working together , the ants were able to make an amazing world for themselves . I also learned that they should be admired for their hard work.

But there was an even larger lesson that I did not realize until recently: adversity(逆境) is a natural part of life , and must be accepted . Unlike the ants ,we cannot give up when we are sad . We have to realize that if a tunnel is gone , we must build another .

Giving up , I say , is not a good choice.
