讀寫任務
閱讀下面短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文。
Most people think it's fine to be “busy as a beaver (海貍). ” But actually, although beavers may
work hard, often they don't get much done.
Beavers are good at building dams and most beaver dams are wonders of engineering. The best ones
are strongly built of trees, stones, and mud. They are wide at the bottom and narrow at the top.
Beavers think nothing of building a dam more than two hundred feet long. One dam, in Montana, was
more than two thousand feet long. The largest one ever seen was in New Hampshire. It stretched four
thousand feet.It made a lake large enough to hold forty beaver homes.
So beavers do build good dams. But they don't always build them in the right places. They just don't
plan. They will build a dam across the widest part of the stream. They don't try to find a place where the
stream is narrow. So a lot of their hard work is wasted.
Beavers should learn that it's not enough to be busy. You have to know what you're doing, too.For
example, there was one Oregon beaver that really was a worker. It decided to fix a hole in a manmade
dam. After five days of work it gave up.The hole it was trying to fill was the space that boats go through.

Beavers are very diligent dambuilders who can build extremely good dams. However, they sometimes
don't know where to build the dams or which dams should be fixed only because they have no
consciousness to make a plan.
The beavers' story illustrates the importance of planning.Without a plan the best intentions and efforts
will not produce results. We shouldn't work blindly but have a clear idea of our purpose, the actions needed to achieve it, and how these should be ordered.
As a junior student, I achieved considerable success in learning English through the combination of hard work and planning.I prepared good materials with the help of my teacher, made plans for my daily study
and selfmonitored the whole process of my learning.I made rapid progress and became very confident.I
think I couldn't have done it without a good plan.
Diligence is a key to success, but in my opinion, good plan is also essential.Through planning, we can
develop clear goals, find more efficient and effective methods and thus have more opportunities to reach
our goals than through hardworking alone.

Poll:1/3 Graduates Say University Study Wasn’t Worth it

With the job market tightening and college enrollments expanding, over a third of young Chinese say their college study experience was not as rewarding as they had expected, according to a newspaper survey.

The survey, published in Monday’s China Youth Daily, showed that 34.7 percent of the 8777 respondents said they regretted their university experience as what they had learnt was not worth the time and money invested.

About 51.5 percent of the respondents said they had learnt nothing practical in university and 39.2 percent said they couldn’t land a job with a bachelor’s degree, the survey said.

Nearly 4.13 million students graduated from China’s universities in 2006, compared with 1.15 million in 2001, the survey said. But salaries for university graduates have been declining.

Before college enrollments exploded six years ago, university graduates could easily find a job with a monthly salary of 2500-3000 yuan. But now graduates are willing to work for just hundreds of yuan a month to find a slot in the already tight job markets, the survey said.

67.2 percent of the polled said university study had become less rewarding after enrollments expanded. But another 44.7 percent thought it would be harder to find a job without university experience.

About 28 percent of respondents said that, if they were to do it again, they would choose to enter a polytechnic rather than a university because today’s employers seemed to prefer practical skills.
