(2013·山東卷)Sparrow is a fast-food chain with 200 restaurants. Some years ago,the group to which Sparrow belonged was taken over by another company.Although Sparrow showed no sign of declining, the chain was generally in an unhealthy state. With more and more fast-food concepts reaching the market, the Sparrow menu had to struggle for attention. And to make matters worse, its new owner had no plans to give it the funds it required.
Sparrow failed to grow for another two years until a new CEO,Carl Pearson, decided to build up its market share. He did a survey, which showed that consumers who already used Sparrow restaurants were extremely positive about the chain, while customers of other fast-food chains were unwilling to turn away from them.Sparrow had to develop a new promotional campaign.
Pearson faced a battle over the future of the Sparrow brand. The chain's owner now favored rebranding Sparrow as Marcy's restaurants.Pearson resisted, arguing for an advertising campaign designed to convince customers that visits to Sparrow restaurants were fun.Such an attempt to establish a positive relationship between a company and the general public was unusual for that time.Pearson strongly believed that numbers were the key to success, rather than customers' spending power. Finally, the owner accepted his idea.
The campaign itself changed the traditional advertising style of the fast-food industry. The TV ads of Sparrow focused on entertainment and featured original songs performed by a variety of stars.Instead of showing the superiority of a specific product, the intention was to put Sparrow in the hearts of potential customers.
Pearson also made other decisions which he believed would contribute to the new Sparrow image. For example,he offered to lower the rent of any restaurants which achieved a certain increase in their turnover(營(yíng)業(yè)額).
These efforts paid off,and Sparrow soon became one of the most successful fast-food chains in the regions where it operated.

A.Customers of Sparrow restaurants.
B.Sparrow restaurants.

A.To build a good relationship with the public.
B.To stress the unusual tradition of Sparrow.
C.To learn about customers' spending power.
D.To meet the challenge from Marcy's restaurants.
4.What was Pearson's achievement as a CEO?

根據(jù)原文“He did a survey, which showed that consumers who already used Sparrow restaurants were extremely positive about the chain, while customers of other fast-food chains were unwilling to turn away from them...”
根據(jù)原文 “...Such an attempt to establish a positive relationship between a company and the general public was unusual for that time....”可以得知“……公司想建立跟大眾的友好關(guān)系”。故正確答案A。答案 A

There is no doubt that the Internet has changed the way that millions of people communicate with the outside world. And there is a lot of buzz and activity around social networking. One of the most interesting opportunities which arise from this is lifestreaming.
When people hang out with friends online, they talk about music, review movies, share travel stories, exchange photos and discuss video games. And they chat about life and recommend books as well.
Lifestreaming is an online record of a person's daily activities. It will allow you to climb inside the head of someone. And you can also experience their day through a digital collection of public text messages, blog posts and photos. What's more, thanks to mobile broadband(寬帶) and tiny video cameras, you can also watch a live video stream of them as they move around their world.
Lifestreaming offers the ability to store and broadcast this information exchange. People now can create, collect and publish their interests and activities. They are creating content that reflects their life.
Generally speaking, the lifestreamers have been broadcasting their lives 24 hours a day. Facebook havs now made it possible to load all these other Websites directly into your Facebook profiles. Now users can display their blog posts from their blog. They can display the drunken pictures that they uploaded. The embarrassing videos they have from their YouTube profile can also be shown, and so much more.
Lifestreaming is the newest way to let your friends know what you're up to, and you needn't force them to follow you across many places. Not everyone is into lifestreaming, but it is one of the hottest areas for development out there. And there are a large amount of services offering a way to collect all the little bits of your online life,
Life streaming might be described as a variation of microblogging, because they all focus on the brevity(簡(jiǎn)潔) of content. But you cannot ignore the difference between them. With microblogging, you write messages directly within the application itself-as you might send a text message. But with lifestreaming application, you collect your other content from around the Web and arrange it into a single stream of short bits of information.
With lifestreaming, people now can learn more about people they trust. By selectively following lifestreams, people are changing how they get information.

I am a writer.I spend a great deal of my time thinking about the power of language—the way it can evoke(喚起)an emotion,a visual image,a complex idea,or a simple truth.Language_is_the_tool_of_my_trade.And I use them all—all the Englishes I grew up with.
Born into a Chinese family that had recently arrived in California,I've been giving more thought to the kind of English my mother speaks.Like others,I have described it to people as “broken” English. But I feel embarrassed to say that.It has always bothered me that I can think of no way to describe it other than“broken”,as if it were damaged and needed to be fixed,as if it lacked a certain wholeness.I've heard other terms used,“l(fā)imited English”, for example. But they seem just as bad,as if everything is limited, including people's perceptions(認(rèn)識(shí))of the limited English speaker.
I know this for a fact, because when I was growing up, my mother's “l(fā)imited” English limited my perception of her.I was ashamed of her English.I believed that her English reflected the quality of what she had to say. That is,because she expressed them imperfectly her thoughts were imperfect. And I had plenty of evidence to support me:the fact that people in department stores,at banks, and at restaurants did not take her seriously, did not give her good service, pretended not to understand her,or even acted as if they did not hear her.
I started writing fiction in 1985.And for reasons I won't get into today,I began to write stories using all the Englishes I grew up with:the English she used with me,which for lack of a better term might be described as“broken”:and what I imagine to be her translation of her Chinese, her internal(內(nèi)在的)language, and for that I sought to preserve the essence, but neither an English nor a Chinese structure.I wanted to catch what language ability tests can never show:her intention, her feelings, the rhythms of her speech and the nature of her thoughts.
1.By saying“Language is the tool of my trade”,the author means that ________.
A.she uses English in foreign trade
B.she is fascinated by languages
C.she works as a translator
D.she is a writer by profession
2.The author used to think of her mother's English as ________.
A.impolite B.amusing C.imperfect D.practical
3.The author gradually realizes her mother's English is ________.
A.well structured B.in the old style
C.easy to translate D.rich in meaning
4.What is the passage mainly about?
A.The change of the author's attitude to her mother's English.
B.The limitation of the author's perception of her mother.
C.The author's misunderstanding of “l(fā)imited” English.
D.The author's experiences of using broken English.
