What do the world’s most successful people all have in common?
By examining the work habits of over 150 greatest writers and artists and scientists, the researchers including Standford Professor Jeffrey Pfeffer found that high achievers like Robert Moses turn out to be all alike:
Busy ! Busy!
1. In a study of general managers in industry, John Kotter reported that many of them worked 60 to 65 hours per week—which translates into at least six 10-hour days. The ability and willingness to work difficult and tiring hours has characterized many powerful figures. Energy and strength provide many advantages to those seeking to build power.
Just Say No!
The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say “no” to almost everything. And that’s what gives them the time to accomplish so much. 2. And focus means saying “no” to a lot of distractions(分神).
Know What You Are!
Ignore your weakness and keep improving your strengths. Don’t waste time exploring skill areas where you have little competence. Instead, focus on—and build on—your strengths. 3. .
Create Good Luck!
Luck is not magical—there is a science to it. Richard Wiseman studied lucky people for his book Luck Factor, and broke down what they do right. 4. By being more outgoing, open to new ideas, following the feeling that something is true, being optimistic, lucky people create possibilities.
Does applying these principles to your life actually work Wiseman created a “l(fā)uck school” to test the ideas—and it was a success. In total, 80 percent of people who attended Luck School said that their luck had increased. 5. .
A. Spend enough time to improve your weakness.
B. Achievement requires focus.
C. On average, these people reported that their luck had increased by more than 40 percent.
D. They never stop working and they never lose a minute.
E. Busy people are more likely to be lucky.
F. This means knowing who you are, what you are and what you are good at.
G. Certain personality types are luckier because they behave in a way that offer the chance for good opportunities.

I was real nervous when I got to my new school. I grabbed our bag and walked down toward the dormitory building. With my joy, I got warm welcome, and was shown to my room. After setting down my stuff and chose my bed, I was led to the Fog room. I saw some girl sitting in the middle of the floor, played games. A girl saw me, but she said, “Pleased to meet you.” Everyone had turned around, came running at me and formed a circle around me. After a while, I sat down by Hailey, that was my first friend there.

Tim Berners-Lee is the man who wrote the software program that led to the foundation of the World Wide Web. Britain played an important part in developing the first generation of computers. The parents of Tim Berners-Lee both worked on one of the earliest commercial (商業(yè)的) computers and talked about their work at home. As a child he would build models of computers from packing material. After graduating from Oxford University he went on to the real thing. In the 1980s, scientists were already communicating using a primitive version of e-mail. While working at a laboratory in Switzerland, Tim Berners-Lee wrote a program, which let him store these messages. This gave him another idea: write a program that will let academics(學(xué)術(shù)界人士) from across the world share information on a single place. In 1990 he wrote the HTTP and HTML programs which form the basis of the World Wide Web.
The next year his programs were placed on to the Internet. Everyone was welcome to use them and improve them if they could. Programmers used this codes(密碼) to work with different operating systems. New things like web browsers(瀏覽器) and search engines were developed. Between 1991 and 1994 the number of web pages rose from 10 to 100,000.
In 1994 Tim Berners-Lee formed the newly formed World Wide Web consortium(協(xié)會(huì)), or W3C. More than 200 leading companies and laboratories are represented by W3C. Together they make sure that everyone can share equally on the web. “The Web can help people to understand the way that others live and love. It helps us understand the humanity of people.” he says.

School is much more than a place where students gather to learn. For children, school is their first opportunity for social development and introduction to people outside of their family unit Lessons learned in school go beyond mathematics and language arts. Students learn to develop individual interests and find other people who share their interests.
Music is one of the ways like-minded children come together. When many people talk about the benefits of music education, they're quick to point out all of the numerous and measurable results 0f music education: many studies show the positive impact music programs can have on children in other areas of study.
Dr. Laurel Trainor, a professor of psychology, at McMaster University, has said young children who take music lessons show different brain development and improved memory compared to children who do not receive musical training. Stanford University researchers have found that musical training improves how the brain processes the spoken word, a finding that researchers say could lead to improving the reading ability of children who have dyslexia and other reading problems.
Furthermore, in an analysis of data on more than 25 ,000 secondary school students, researchers at the United States Department of Education found that students who report consistent involvement in instrumental music during middle school and high school perform significantly belter in mathematics.
There are many reasons why music education can help to make a child a better student, but there also being involved in music is also a social endeavor that can set the course for lifelong friends and help create social groups that last through school and beyond. Music education breeds familiarity during a school career ,when going from class to class or from school to school every year can be nerve wracking and unfamiliar.

1. When a starving man gets a meal, he begins to think about an overcoat; when an executive(業(yè)務(wù)主管)gets a new sports car, visions of country clubs dance into view. The many wants of mankind might be regarded as making up several levels. 2. The first and most basic levels of wants involve food. Once this want is satisfied, a second level of wants appears: clothing and some sort of shelter. By the end of World War II these wants were satisfied for a great majority of Americans. 3. It included such items as automobiles and new houses. By 1957 or 1958 this third level of wants was fairly well satisfied. Then, in the late 1950s a fourth level of wants appeared: the “l(fā)ife-enriching” level. While the other levels involve physical satisfaction-the feeding, comfort, safety, and transportation of the human body-this level stresses mental needs for recognition, achievement and happiness. It includes a variety of goods and services, many of which could be called “l(fā)uxury”(奢侈) items. Among them are vacation trips, the best medical care, and entertainment. 4. On this level, a greater percentage of consumer spending goes to services, while on the first three levels more is spent on goods. Will consumers raise their sights to a fifth level of wants as their income increases, or will they continue to demand luxuries and personal services on the fourth level? A fifth level probably would involve wants that can be achieved best by community action. Consumers may be spending more on taxes to pay for government action against disease, ignorance, crime and prejudice. 5. In this way, we can enjoy more fully the good things on the first four levels.
A.Then a third level appeared.
B.Human wants seem endless.
C.When there is money enough to satisfy one level of wants, another level appears.
