[1] The kids get home from school—tired, hungry and looking for entertainment. The last thing they want to do is to get on with their homework. However, at this very time, parents often remind the kids to do their homework by nagging(嘮叨)and cajoling(哄騙). If that doesn’t work, homework wars break out. But with some basic rules and good habits, they can be avoided.

[2] When it comes to preparing your kids for homework success, one of the first things to consider is the environment they are working in. Not all children will like working alone in their bedrooms. Some children might prefer to study at the kitchen table, and providing that location works for the family, there’s no reason to force them into another room.

[3] Try to keep the house relatively quiet and free of distractions. If you’re worried you can’t provide the right equipment or environment at home, see whether the local library could offer an alternative place to study. Also, some schools will offer homework clubs, where students can complete homework and seek help from a supervising teacher if needed.

[4] Once you’ve got the study environment sorted, think about when it is _______ for homework to be done. If children are old enough to make plans, it can be worth sitting down together and breaking projects into smaller tasks to be completed on different nights. This can stop kids form feeling overwhelmed(被壓垮)and it also teaches them time management skills.

[5] If you follow the above rules, you can avoid homework wars down the track. And if tensions are rising at home around homework, remember that a little bit of kindness can go a long way.

[1]When children go to camp, they are on their own, sometimes for the very first time in their lives. They have to decide what to wear , what to eat and which activities to participate in . As a result they develop confidence and independence.

In school, children do not experience success in the same way. Camp can be a school without failure because just having fun makes them a success.

[3] One of the greatest benefits of a camp experience is that children develop social skills. In camp setting, a good counselor(顧問) will make sure that every camper is included in the activity and that each child interacts with the others in a positive way. They learn to give and take, and they learn how to work and cooperate, Something as simple as clean-up , is not only there to get the cabin clean, but to promote a team atmosphere of working sogether which in turn results in friendship.

[4] The obvious benefit of camp is that campers make long lasting friendships .These friendships can often be unique and special because campers are living with each other and see the true personalities. Children learn to see others from a different viewpoint. Children tend to be accepted for who they are and do not have to be concerned about what they wear, what they are good at and how they look. 閱讀表達
閱讀下面的短文,并根據(jù)短文后的要求答題(請注意問題后的字數(shù)要求).

(1)Our character, basically, is a mixture of our habits. "Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action,
reap a habit;________, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny (命運)," the maxim goes.
(2)Habits are powerful factors in our lives. Because they are  often unconscious patterns, they
constantly daily affect our character and produce our effectiveness or ineffectiveness.
(3)As Horace Mann, the great educator, once said, "Habits are like a cable. We weave a rope of it
everyday and soon it cannot be broken." I personally do not agree with the last part of his expression. I
know habits can be learned and unlearned. But we also know it isn't a quick fix. It involves a process
and a tremendous effort.
(4)Those of us who watched the lunar voyage of Apollo 11 were shocked as we saw the first men
walk on the moon and return to earth. But to get there, those astronauts had to break out of the
tremendous gravity pull of the earth. More energy was spent in the first few minutes of lift-off, in the first
few miles of travel, than was used over the next several days to travel half million miles.
(5)Habits, too, have tremendous gravity pull- more than most people realize or would admit.
Breaking deeply developed habitual tendencies such as procrastination(拖延) , impatience, criticalness,
or selfishness that go against basic principles of human effectiveness involves more than a little willpower
and a few minor changes in our lives. "Lift off" takes a tremendous effort, but once we break out of the
gravity pull, our freedom takes on a whole new situation.
(6)Like any natural force, gravity pull can work with us or against us. The gravity pull of some of our
habits may currently be keeping us from going where we want to go. But it is also gravity pull that keeps
our world together, that keeps the planets in their orbits and our universe in order. It is a powerful force,
and if we use it effectively, we can use the gravity pull of habit to create the order necessary to establish
effectiveness in our lives.
