When you see wild geese heading south for the winter, flying along in a "V" formation (隊(duì)形) ,you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way. As each bird flaps (拍打) its 1     ,it creates an uplift for the 2        immediately following. By 3        in "V" formation, the whole flock 4        at least 72 % greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.

People who 5     a common direction and a sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and 6     ,because they are travelling on the push of one another.

When a wild goose 7      out of formation,it suddenly feels the drag and resistance (阻力) of trying to go it 8      and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the 9      power of the bird in front.

If we have as much sense as a wild goose,we will 10     in formation with those people who are 11      in the same direction as we are.

When the head wild goose gets tired,it rotates back in the wing and another wild goose flies point.

It is sensible to 12     turns doing demanding jobs, whether with people 13     with wild geese flying south. Wild geese honk (叫) from behind to 14     those up front to keep up their speed.

What message do we give when we honk from 15     ? Finally, when a wild goose gets sick or is  16      by gunshot, and falls out of formation, two other wild geese fall out with that wild goose and follow it down to lend help and 17.        They stay with the 18          wild goose until it is able to fly or until it dies and only then do they launch out on their own,or with another formation to 19        their group. If we have the 20     of a wild goose,we will stand by each other like that.

May we all be " honkers" of encouragement to each other and to our friends and families!

My husband and I have always been friendly with the clerks at the local convenience store where we often get gasoline. I don't think people appreciate what a difficult job these folks have sometimes. They work for a little over minimum wage and I often wonder how they make ends meet.

One of the clerks,Charlie, was missing his glasses one day. I commented on it and he said they'd been broken and that he couldn't afford a new pair. It was obvious that he was having a difficult time.

We wondered how we could help him,so we turned to our own eye doctor for assistance with a plan. We had his secretary contact him, asking him to come in for an eye exam free of charge. We told the doctor to let him order whatever glasses he wanted and that we would pay for them. Although Charlie ques?tioned what was going on,the doctor just told him that someone had anonymously (用匿名的方式) donated the money for his new glasses. When we went in to pay the bill, the doctor told us he was so touched by our idea that he waived the exam fee and only charged us for half the price of the glas?ses! It was so wonderful to see Charlie in his new glasses and he enjoyed telling all the regular customers how it came about. I'm sure that upon hearing his story, ideas of kindness may have emerged in the minds of many people. He will never know who the gift was from and I hope the idea that good guys real?ly do get a break sometimes was planted for them.
