What he lacks is more patience,___________?

       A.isn't it               B.is it            C.doesn't he       D.does he

A

解析:

本題是反意疑問句的考查。千萬要當心,what he lacks是作旬中的主語,真正的謂語是is,前面

的句子是肯定的,所以反意疑問用否定。

Harrison Ford(哈里森·福特)

Harrison Ford was born on July l3, 1942, in Chicago, to an Irish Catholic(天主教的)father and a Russian Jewish mother.

Although young Ford had no direction(方向)in life, not to mention no motivation(動力)to learn, he continued in his studies and attended Ripon College, in Wisconsin. A below average student, Ford took an acting class to try raising his grade point average. This didn't help since Ford was kicked out of(開除)Ripon just weeks before graduation—but the acting classes did serve another purpose—they gave Ford a glimmer(微光)of direction in his life.

Ford left for Los Angeles with the hopes of pursuing(從事)an acting career. Once in LA, Ford received bit parts in television series, but this was not keeping him busy nor was it paying the bills. He took a job as a carpenter with the task of building a recording studio. Producers and directors told Ford that he did not have what it takes to be all actor, but he did have an ability for carpentry and taught himself about it with the help of a library book he borrowed.

And then he began the relationship with director George Lucas. Ford was offered a role in the film American Graffiti《美國畫師》, but gave it up when he learned his salary was not half as big as what he was earning as a carpenter. When he was offered a slight pay raise, he finally accepted the role.

This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship, which led to his historical role as Han Solo in Star Wars《星球大戰(zhàn)》. After his work in Star Wars, Ford performed in another star-turning role, this time for directors Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, in the first installment(分本演出)of the Indiana Jones series(系列影片), Raiders of the Lost Ark《奪寶奇兵》.

With dramatic(生動的)roles in films such as Presumed Innocent《推定無罪》, Patriot Games《愛國者游戲》, The Fugitive《逃亡者》, Clear and Present Danger《迫在眉睫》, The Devil's Own《與魔鬼同行》, and Air Force One《空軍一號》(to name just a few), it's no wonder Ford is one of the most respected actors of his time.

Although 7 of Ford's films are among the top grossing films(最高票房收入)of all time, he has never actually won an Academy Award. He was recognized for his work in the 1985 drama Witness《目擊者》with a Best Actor Oscar nomination(提名)and has received a lot of other prestigious(有聲望的)awards.

Respected as a sex symbol(象征)by women worldwide, the person behind the most beloved heroes in film's history is regarded as an excellent actor by both sexes. He earns a salary of at least $ 20 million per movie.

A. What do awards mean to you?

B. How would you describe your style?

C. What is it about acting that’s so attractive?

D. How do you deal with this loss of privacy?

E. How do you divide your time in acting and music?

F. What gave you the idea to start the studios in the first place?

Born in New York in 1976, Wang grew up in the United States. Blessed with a mix of brains and talent, he spent his youth performing in local musicals. While in university, Wang landed a recording contract in Taiwan. His breakthrough album firmly established him as a rising star in the Asian music scene. In addition to writing and producing his own music, Wang has also taken part in movie projects around Asia. He has won a great popularity, and now he is having an interview with CNN Talk Asia.

1. _______

WL: It is a school of hip hop, which is the way I like to think of it. It combines Chinese elements and sounds. I started it off in my last album called Shangri-La. And this album combines the music of ethnic minorities, in China, in Tibet, and in Mongolia. It’s beautiful and original to Chinese culture. And this new album called Heroes of Earth combines Opera and Quench, which are thousand-year-old traditions also unique to Chinese culture. Very unique instruments, costumes, singing styles. I don’t think anyone has ever done this before in the hip hop world.

2._______

WL: Um, just the large quantity of work that I have to come up with. I produce for other artists and compose for them as well. And there are a lot of changes in music going on right now in Asia. And it’s really exciting so I decided that I’m going to need a studio in New York. I’m going to need a studio in Taipei. And maybe the rest I can get by with just my laptop.

3._______

WL: Well, I started doing musical theatre. And I loved it so much from the age of 13, you know. Actually in 2000, I did my first movie and ever since then I’ve been enjoying doing movies. I don’t think I’m much of an actor. But I just love being surrounded by creative people and a lot of times doing music is a lonely struggle, especially composing, and arranging, producing my own albums. Acting, every day you get called and you’re surrounded by other actors and creative people.

4._______

WL: The first time I won, like you just said, when I was 22, it meant a lot to me. It was like…I didn’t know I could make this happen. I didn’t know I could get this kind of recognition. So back then, it was huge increase of confidence. And I don’t want to say vanity (虛榮心), but confidence. I think every artist needs confidence.

5._______

WL: Well, it can be a real pain in the neck. You know, I feel lucky that I can go back to New York and not be recognized and not be followed. At times it can be really, really annoying. Today many people own a cell phone that has a camera on it… and a blog. In the entertainment news, there’s a recent trend of journalists or media just going on to the Internet and saying “Oh, so and so saw so and so.” when they see a blog. You know, it’s completely irresponsible but in the blog what he says can become the title of the newspaper article.

科目:高中英語 來源:浙江省模擬題 題型:閱讀理解

閱讀理解。
When was the last time you laughed a lot? Most people are the victim of an uncontrollable fit of
laughter at least once in their lives. But when it happens in front of the television cameras, it can become
an internet sensation.
Do you think there's anything funny about spicy meat? Swiss finance minister Hans-Rudolf Merz
seemed to think it was hilarious. Mr. Merz was making a speech in the Swiss parliament on meat imports when he started laughing and couldn't stop. The meat in question is known as "b?ndnerfleisch"- a type of
air-dried beef product. Herr Merz later admitted that he was amused by the bureaucratic (官僚主義的)
language in which the bill was written.
Since then, Mr. Merz has become an internet hit. A video of the incident shows a grey-suited minister
giggling away, accompanied by applause from his parliamentary colleagues. So far, the video has been
seen by more than 500,000 people on YouYube and other websites. "I don't understand what he's talking about," said one viewer, "but it's just so funny." The recent publicity will be good news for the minister,
too. Mr. Merz had been criticized recently for signing away much of Switzerland's banking secrecy, and
for failing to do enough to help two Swiss citizens who were detained by Libya. But now, with retirement
a few months away, Mr. Merz may leave on a high note. Some even suggest he may have a future career
as a comedian.
Of course, Mr. Merz isn't the first person to crack up on air. BBC Radio 4 newsreader Charlotte
Green lost control on the programme Today not so long ago. It all happened after a clip of the oldest
known recording of the human voice was played. A studio member remarked that the 1860 recording of
a woman singing the French song "Au Clair de la Lune" sounded like a "bee buzzing in a bottle". That
seemed to set Ms. Green off as she broke down into a fit of the giggles. Later, the editor of the show,
Ceri Thomas, said most listeners who contacted the show had commented on "how much they had
enjoyed the moment". He added, "When Charlotte loses it, she really loses it."
So, why do we get these fits of laughter? Experts say it's a form of release. Nervous tension often
builds up inside us, especially in those who have got high-pressure, stressful jobs. When stressed out, the
body constricts (收縮) blood vessels, elevates the production of potentially damaging stress hormones,
and raises blood pressure. Short periods of stress are normal and not dangerous, but over long periods of
time stress weakens the immune system and makes heart problems more likely. Under the control of
self-protecting mechanisms of human body, this pressure needs an outlet, usually manifesting itself through
tears, anger or laughter- uncontrollable fits of laughter!
So, beware! That uncontrollable laughing fit could strike at any moment.
1. Which of the following can best replace the underlined word "crack up"?
A. break up
B. cheer up
C. laugh away
D. catch on
2. By saying "The recent publicity will be good news for the minister, too. ", the author means
that the video of the minister's laughing fit_______.
A. may help him sign away some of Swizerland's banking secrecy.
B. may help him return to the focus of the public in spite of some negative news.
C. may help make the public think highly of the minister recently.
D. may help put off the retirement of the minister.
3. According to the passage, Charlotte Green lost control on the programme because _______.
A. the clip of the programme is too old to be used.
B. she broke down in the studio while making the programme.
C. a studio member thought she sang the French song badly.
D. the recording of the French song sounded extremely funny.
4. Which of the following is true according to the experts?
A. Those who suffer higher pressure from work are more likely to laugh away.
B. Uncontrollable laughing fits can help to release the pressure.
C. Stress outlet can be controlled by ourselves if we try hard.
D. It is unnecessary to pay attention to short periods of stress because they are not dangerous.
5. It can be inferred from the passage that _______.
A. uncontrollable fits of laughter is very common among people.
B. Mr. Merz will be a comedian after retirement.
C. Charlotte Green will be dismissed due to this incident.
D. most of the listeners who contacted the show thought it inappropriate for a newsreader to
     laugh away on the programme.
