I am sure that everybody in his/her life has used computers.Nowadays you can feel their presence everywhere—at home,at school,at work and they certainly make life easier. On the other hand, there are people who can work without them.
Anyway, I believe their presence is a good thing.Life with them seems less difficult and more comfortable. You can use them to choose your meal,to withdraw your money, and also to save your time, because these operations ale all controlled by computers. Therefore, you can hardly imagine the modern world without them;the whole planet seems to be one big computer society.
Nevertheless, problems call often appear in this area, too. To have a computer means you have to be quite rich and have the necessary skills to use it.However, think about questions like,“Are computers available for everyone, for rich and poor people, for people from villages and people from cities? Aren’t they too expensive? Is everyone able to learn how to use them and does everyone have the chance to access and work with them? How could everything in the future be dependent on them?”Therefore,I think our society will be divided into two pans. One part will work with them and enjoy the benefits that computers can bring and the other part will be pushed out of society and will actually be left far behind the other group.
Another question that bothers me is,computers are important and they’re good things in our life, but they aren’t everything. They are good as a help at school, quite often as entertainment, especially for young people, as an necessary tool to help in research etc. , but I think we shouldn’t be so dependent on them, because computers are only machines and machines can’t feel anything, can’t be human and sympathetic, and every action performed by computer can be interfered(干涉) with could cause these machines to crash or work badly.
In conclusion, I would like to say I am not against computers. I use computers too, but people should be wary all the time.

A.be strongly for the use of computers because of its convenience
B.be careful with computers that will also cause problems

D.not do something that causes computers to work badly
74.In the third paragraph, the author presents his idea by
A.a(chǎn)sking questions for people to think about

D.expressing his opinion directly

C.remind us to care about the problems that computers bring

For better health, many people turn to doctors or self-help books. But they don’t realize that their friends could help them fight illness and sadness, slow aging and help them live a longer life.Researchers are only now starting to pay attention to the importance of friendship in whole health.A 10-year Australian study found that old people with a large circle of friends were 22 percent less likely to die during the study than those with fewer friends.
“In general, the role of friendship in our lives isn’t well appreciated,” said Rebecca G.Adams, a professor of the University of North Carolina.“Friendship has a bigger influence on us than family relationships.” Why friendship has such a big effect isn’t clear. While friends can pick up medicine for a sick person, the advantages go well beyond physical help.
Last year, researchers studied 34 students at the University of Virginia, taking them to the foot of a steep(陡峭的)hill and fitting them with a heavy backpack. They were then asked to estimate the steepness of the hill. Some of them stood next to their friends during the research, while others were alone. The students who stood with their friends judged the hill to be lower than the hills in other students’ eyes. And the longer the friends had known each other, the less steep the hill appeared.
“People with stronger friendship feel like there is someone they can turn to,” said Karen A Roberto, director of the medical center at Virginia Tech.“Friendship is a great resource, but many people don’t realize it.The message of these studies is that friends make your life better.”

“It’s my own fault.” Carl Fenter pulled his jacket closer against the cold morning wind.“The rest of the family is home, where it’s warm.”
Just another one of his brilliant ideas—a big tamale (玉米粉蒸肉) feast after tonight’s Christmas Eve service at church—and look where it landed him: waiting in a line of 50 people.
As Carl knew, every tamale shop in the city had sold out their tamales the day before Christmas, though he’d been driving all over El Paso that morning.Determined to bring home the tamales, Carl tried one last shop out in Canutillo.
When he arrived, a fresh batch (一批) would be ready off the steamer in 45 minutes.Taking his place at the end of the snaking line, he watched the woman in front of him remove her jacket to cover her shaking youngster. It wasn’t long before she, too, trembled in the chilly wind.Without hesitation, Carl took off his own jacket and offered it to the grateful mother.
They cheered when the line crept forward at last. Finally, Carl got inside the door and inched his way closer to the counter, the woman now first in line.“Sorry folks,” the clerk announced, “that’s the last of the tamales.” “No way!” Carl cried out.“But,” stressed the man, “we’ll have a final batch ready in, oh, about two hours.”
Defeated, Carl backed away, but the young mother grabbed his arm.“You’re leaving?” “I have to,” Carl glanced at his watch.“I promised to put up decorations at my church.” “I’ll get your order of tamales and bring them to your house.” Carl frowned.“I couldn’t ask you to do that.” “But it’s the least I can do.You lent me your coat.Just give me your address.” She and her little girl settled in for the long wait.

Family members become closer during such a trip, therefore make sure to bring every family member with you — needless to say, your pet dog as well. Enjoy the fresh air and beautiful sunshine with your pet and you will feel much closer to it.
If you have decided to take your dog on a self-driving holiday, a full and detailed preparation is needed.
When reaching the destination, dogs need comfortable and cozy places to rest, but they are sometimes banned from some hotels and restaurants. Therefore it is of great importance to make sure the place you are going is dog-friendly.
Dogs like Golden Retrievers, Schnauzers, Labradors and Cocker Spaniels are quite lively and outgoing in nature so are suitable for a trip. But some canines are not, such as those which are too young or too old.The old dog lets you know quickly about being uncomfortable with unfamiliar circumstances, while the young ones are easy to get hurt.
Many people wrongly believe that holiday trips are beneficial to animals, strengthening their ability to deal with strange environments. But experts say that it’s not as effective as they think and the ability to adapt to different environments needs to be trained into the dogs before they come across such challenges. A sudden trip can be too much of a burden for many dogs which will feel stressed and scared.Only those more naturally friendly dogs will feel happy on a trip with owners by their side.
Special attention should be paid to animal insurance because in a strange environment dogs can be easily frightened by other animals and run away. Keeping them well tied up is advisable.
Another important point that requires your attention is the possibility of attacks by other dogs in rural areas where immunity(免疫力) from disease cannot be guaranteed.
64.The underlined word “canines ” in Para.4 refers to ________.
A.destinations             B.dogs         C.  hotels and restaurants            D.people

B.dogs have the ability to adapt to new environments
C.  dogs are easily attacked by other dogs in rural areas
D.dogs are easily afraid of other animals and run away in a strange place
66.The main reason why people bring their dogs on holiday is that ________.
A.they are not safe at home
B.they are members of the family
C.  their dogs can learn a lot outside
D.people can build a better relationship with them
67.What’s the best title of the passage?
A.Bring Your Pet on Holiday            B.Take Care of Your Pet
C.  A Special Member of the Family   D.Animal Insurance

A couple from Miami, Bill and Simone Butler, spent sixty –six days in a life-raft (救生艇) in the seas of Central America after their boat sank.
Twenty-one days after they left Panama in their boat, Simony, they met some whales (鯨魚(yú)). “They started to hit the side of the boat,” said Bill, “and then suddenly we heard water.” Two minutes later, the boat was sinking. They jumped into the life-raft and watched the boat go under the water.

"As sure as you're alive now, Peter Rabbit, some day I will catch you," shouted Reddy Fox, as he put his black nose in the hole between the roots of the Big Hickory-tree which grows close to the Smiling Pool. "It is lucky for you that you were not one jump farther away from this hole."
Peter, safe inside that hole, didn't have a word to say, or, if he did, he didn't have breath enough to say it. It was quite true that if he had been one jump farther from that hole, Reddy Fox would have caught him. As it was, the hairs on Peter's funny white tail actually had tickled Reddy's back as Peter ran wildly through the root-bound entrance to that hole. It had been the narrowest escape Peter had had for a long, long time. You see, Reddy Fox had surprised Peter eating sweet clover (苜蓿) on the bank of the Smiling Pond, and it had been a lucky thing for Peter that that hole, dug long ago by Johnny Chuck's grandfather, had been right where it was. Also, it was a lucky thing that old Mr. Chuck had been wise enough to make the entrance between the roots of that tree in such a way that it could not be dug any larger.
Reddy Fox was too shrewd (機(jī)靈的) to waste any time trying to dig it larger. He knew there wasn't room enough for him to get between those roots. So, after trying to make Peter as uncomfortable as possible by telling him what he, Reddy, would do to him when he did catch him, Reddy walked across the Green Meadows. Peter remained where he was for a long time. When he was quite sure that it was safe to do so, he crawled out and hurried to the Old Orchard. He felt that that would be the safest place for him, because there were ever so many hiding places in the old stone wall along the edge of it.
56. Where is Peter Rabbit hiding?
A. On the bank of a pond                       B. In a hole
C. In a tall tree                                             D. Behind a room
57. Which of the following statements is NOT TRUE according to the story?
A. Reddy Fox might find rabbit hairs on him.
B. Old Mr. Chuck took advantage of the roots to dig the hole.
C. The hole could be made larger.
D. Reddy almost caught Peter this time.
58. Why did Peter Rabbit wait so long before leaving?
A. Because Reddy was trying to get him.
B. Because it was cold outside.
C. Because his grandfather would help him dig a large hole.
D. Because the Old Orchard was not so safe as this hole.
