讀寫任務(wù)。
閱讀下面的短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語(yǔ)短文。
"Depend on yourself"is what nature says to everyone. Parents can help you. Teachers can help you. Others
still can help you. But all these only help you to help yourself.
There have been great men in history. But many of them were very poor in childhoods and no uncles, aunts
or friends to help them. Schools were few and not very good. They could not depend upon them for an
education. They saw how it was, and set to work with all their strength to know something. They worked their own way up to fame.
One of the most famous teachers in England used to tell his pupils. "I can not make worthy men of you but
I can help you make men of yourself."
But some young men tend to totally depend on others to help them out. They can never achieve much
unless they see their weak points and change their course. They are nothing now, and will be nothing as long as
they live, unless they accept the advice of their parents and teachers and depend on their own honest efforts.
     [寫作內(nèi)容] 1)以約30詞概括短文的要點(diǎn);
                            2)然后以約120詞就“一切靠自己”的主題發(fā)表看法,并包括以下要點(diǎn):
     a)表達(dá)你的論點(diǎn);
     b)陳述你的理由;
     c)概括你的論點(diǎn):應(yīng)該如何依靠自己。
     [寫作要求]可以使用實(shí)例或其它論述方法支持你的論點(diǎn),也可以參照閱讀材料的內(nèi)容,但不得直
接引用原文中的句子。

It is important to depend on ourselves. Many great men in history succeeded on their own. Although advice
and help from others may be useful for us, we could only depend on our own efforts to achieve what we want.
Throughout our lives, we may face many difficulties and problems. We should mainly depend on ourselves
to overcome them. Firstly, we could benefit from dealing with the problems. During the process, we may gain
valuable experience which could increase our ability to solve problems. Furthermore, we could learn more
about our own weak points and then find our ways to improve them. Secondly, nobody knows our problems
better than we do. Even if people can provide advice, they might not think of the most effective way and finally
solve the problems for us.
Therefore, in time of difficulty, it is the honest efforts of ourselves that we should ultimately(最綜;最后) rely upon. We should work with all our strength rather than wait for the help from others

The elephant and the fly

A disciple(信徒), who was disturbed by the fact that his mind was in constant unrest, asked his teacher, “Why are most people's minds restless? What can one do to still the mind? ” The teacher looked at the disciple, smiled and told him a story:

An elephant was standing and picking leaves from a tree.A small fly came, flying and buzzing(嗡嗡叫)near his ear.The elephant waved it away with his long ears. Then the fly came again, and the elephant waved it away once more.

This was repeated several times. Then the elephant asked the fly, “Why are you so restless and noisy? Why can't you stay for a while in one place? ”

The fly answered, “I am attracted to whatever I see, hear or smell. My five senses pull me constantly in all directions and I cannot resist them. What is your secret? How can you stay so calm and still? ”

The elephant stopped eating and said, “My five senses do not rule my attention.Whatever I do, I get immersed in it.Now that I am eating, I am completely absorbed in eating. In this way I can enjoy my food and chew it better.I rule and control my attention, and not the other way around.”

Upon hearing these words, a smile appeared on the disciple's face, “I understand! If my five senses are in control of my mind and attention, then my mind is in constant unrest. If I am in charge of my five senses and attention, then my mind becomes calm.”

閱讀下面的短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語(yǔ)短文。
The ultimate (最終的) goal of life is to achieve happiness, and the way to achieve happiness is to
wise management. So says The Sims (模擬人生),an American strategic life-simulation computer game
that lets you create, direct, and manage the lives of SimCity's residents.
Similar to the life of a real person, the game begins with the creation of your simulated(模擬的)people: pick a name and a gender, decide on personality/astrological sign (星座), and then choose a look from a
variety of heads, bodies, and skin tones. Each little Sim person has all basic needs (Hunger, Comfort, Fun, etc.) like a human which can be satisfied by interaction with other Sims or purchased objects. Name,
gender, and appearance don't affect gameplay much, but personality determines how your Sim plays with others.
One gameplay goal is to improve your Sim and eventually help him or her achieve happiness. With
proper management he or she can climb a career ladder, which nets him or her more money. This allows
the purchase of higher quality stuff, which lets you improve your Sim even more. With suitable care, your
Sim can have a mate, kids, and a mansion with an indoor pool. Mismanage your new, simulated family,
and fights will break out, jobs will be lost, and the house will fall apart.
With The Sims, you can create whatever and whomever you desire. Triumph or tragedy? You name it. In your real life, it is the same case.

"How about a couple raw eggs?"
     "Terrible! Grandma!"
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"

To which Grandma replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad by themselves, but when they are
put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!
"Life works the same way. Many times we wonder why it would let us go through such bad
and difficult times. But life knows that when it puts these things all in its order, they always work for
good!
"The trials (考驗(yàn)) of life serve a meaningful purpose in making us stronger. Do not lose

Jackie is perhaps the most easily annoyed koala (考拉) at the Featherdale Wildlife Park in southern
Australia. All the koalas there are unhappy and complaining. You would be too if you were used to night
activities and someone kept waking you up all day while you were trying to sleep it off. That's right-sleep
it off. The average koala is always half asleep because it feeds on the leaves of a special kind that makes
it sleepy.
The reason Jackie and her fellow koalas are repeatedly awoken from their deep sleep is so they can be
hugged and photographed by tourists, who make the trips to Featherdale and an increasing number of other
national parks for just that special experience. Whatever department in the Aussie government in charge of
such things is now moving to make the practice illegal, which is understandable. How would you react, my
friend, if you were trying to sleep off a dozen times and some round, furry creature smelling of grass kept
waking you?

We all know the story of "The tortoise and the hare". The hare lost because he was overconfident. So
slow-and-steady wins the race. But did you know the tortoise and hare raced three more times? After his
loss the hare challenged the tortoise to a second race and this time ran without stopping from start to finish.
There was no doubt that he won. The lesson this time was that fast-and-consistent beats slow-and-steady.
Then the tortoise challenged the hare to a third race, over a slightly different route. The hare ran at top speed
until he reached a broad river. Although the finishing line was just a kilometre past the river, the hare had no
way of crossing and once more the slow-and-steady swimming tortoise came out on top.
The hare and the tortoise, by this time, had become good friends. They realized they could perform better
together than separately. So they decided to have one more race. But this time they would work as a team.
They started off, and this time the hare carried the tortoise till the riverbank. There, the tortoise took over and
swam across the river with the hare on his back. On the opposite bank, the hare again carried the tortoise and
they reached the finishing line together, much more quickly than they had been able to alone. They both felt a
greater sense of satisfaction than they'd felt earlier.
