Some years ago, writing in my diary used to be a usual activity. I would return from school and spend the expected half hour recording the day’s events, feelings, and impressions in my little blue diary. I did not really need to express my emotions by way of words, but I gained a certain satisfaction from seeing my experiences forever recorded on paper. After all, isn’t accumulating memories a way of preserving the past?
When I was thirteen years old, I went on a long journey on foot in a great valley, well-equipped with pens, a diary, and a camera. During the trip, I was busy recording every incident, name and place I came across. I felt proud to be spending my time productively, dutifully preserving for future generations a detailed description of my travels. On my last night there, I wandered out of my tent, diary in hand. The sky was clear and lit by the glare of the moon, and the walls of the valley looked threatening behind their screen of shadows. I automatically took out my pen….
At that point, I understood that nothing I wrote could ever match or replace the few seconds I allowed myself to experience the dramatic beauty of the valley. All I remembered of the previous few days were the dull characterizations I had set down in my diary.
Now, I only write in my diary when I need to write down a special thought or feeling. I still love to record ideas and quotations that strike me in books, or observations that are particularly meaningful. I take pictures, but not very often—only of objects I find really beautiful. I’m no longer blindly satisfied with having something to remember when I grow old. I realize that life will simply pass me by if I stay behind the camera, busy preserving the present so as to live it in the future.
I don’t want to wake up one day and have nothing but a pile of pictures and notes. Maybe I won’t have as many exact representations of people and places; maybe I’ll forget certain facts, but at least the experiences will always remain inside me. I don’t live to make memories—I just live, and the memories form themselves.

(Para. 1) | used to be a usual activity; spend… recording…; gained a certain satisfaction from seeing my experiences forever recorded on paper; accumulating memories a way of preserving the past | 背景:寫日記過去是一件習慣的事兒,通過文字記錄過去生活的點滴,每每看到日記的內(nèi)容就有一種滿足感。 |
(Para. 2-3) | thirteen years old; a long journey; was busy recording; wandered out of; diary in hand; automatically took out; nothing I wrote could ever match or replace the few seconds; experience the dramatic beauty of the valley; the dull characterizations I had set down | 轉(zhuǎn)折點:以13歲那年的一個旅行,經(jīng)歷了一個難以忘懷的夜晚,被美景所打動,不由自主地拿出筆來……
(Para. 4-5) | write down a special thought or feeling; no longer blindly satisfied with having something to remember; at least the experiences; remain inside me; don’t live to make memories | 感悟:現(xiàn)在只是在有特別感受的時候?qū)懭沼,不再盲目地滿足于:要在老的時候回憶過去。
根據(jù)題干關(guān)鍵詞before the age of thirteen和regarded … as … After all, isn’t accumulating memories a way of preserving the past? 故D. preserving her history為正確答案。
A. observing her school routine 和B. expressing her satisfaction,因為在第一段中均能看到,但是只是細節(jié)中一部分,而非主題句。 C. impressing her classmates
根據(jù)題干關(guān)鍵詞 a change 和 understanding of keeping a diary定位在第三段:At that point, I understood that nothing I wrote could ever match or replace the few seconds I allowed myself to experience the dramatic beauty of the valley.所以B. The beauty of the great valley正確。
A dull night on the journey來自I went on a long journey, on my last night there, the dull characterizations,本選項干擾性極強。 D. Her concerns for future generations. At that point, I understood…③因果關(guān)系、邏輯關(guān)系的倒置,如C. striking quotation from a book.
A. A dull night on the journey,因為在第二段中出現(xiàn)了On my last night there, I wandered out of my tent, diary in hand,但是出題人設下了一個陷阱:dull,對文中的內(nèi)容進行了篡改,故排除。D. Her concerns for future generations. I felt proud to be spending my time productively, dutifully preserving for future generations a detailed description of my travels.
根據(jù)題干關(guān)鍵詞now和 put in her diary定位在第四節(jié)首句:Now, I only write in my diary when I need to write down a special thought or feeling.故選項B. Special thoughts and feelings.
Now, I only write in…,有的考生選D和A項,因為他們看到了:I still love to record ideas and quotations that strike me in books, or observations that are particularly meaningful. I take pictures…,其實but后面才是作者的真正想法,but not very often—only of objects I find really beautiful. C. Detailed accounts of daily activities.根據(jù)第一段首句可知writing in my diary used to be a usual activity.已經(jīng)過去,現(xiàn)在不這樣做了,即使第二段中出現(xiàn) I was busy recording every incident, name and place I came across.
54.A。 根據(jù)題干關(guān)鍵詞realize和to live a meaningful life定位最后一段的but at least the experiences will always remain inside me.
B. to live the present in the future I realize that life will simply pass me by if I stay behind the camera, busy preserving the present so as to live it in the future. C. to make memories I don’t live to make memories故排除。D. to give accurate representations of it可以定位在最后一段的第二句:Maybe I won’t have as many exact representations of people and places也許不再有那么多……
1. I felt proud to be spending my time productively, dutifully preserving for future generations a detailed description of my travels.
I felt proud to be spending my time …preserving…a detailed description …。Productively修飾動詞spending, dutifully修飾后面動詞 preserving, preserve for sb. sth.。
2. The sky was clear and lit by the glare of the moon, and the walls of the valley looked threatening behind their screen of shadows.
分析:本句中,lit by the glare of the moon省略了was, threatening是looked表語,后面的behind their screen of shadows介詞短語,補充說明。
3. At that point, I understood that nothing I wrote could ever match or replace the few seconds I allowed myself to experience the dramatic beauty of the valley.
分析:本句的主干是I understood that …。 ② I allowed myself to experience the dramatic beauty of the valley也是省略了that的定語從句,還原為I allowed myself the few seconds to experience the dramatic beauty of the valley。
4. I realize that life will simply pass me by if I stay behind the camera, busy preserving the present so as to live it in the future.
分析:本句的主干是I realize that …。
5. Maybe I won’t have as many exact representations of people and places; maybe I’ll forget certain facts, but at least the experiences will always remain inside me.
