When a Swedish ship that sank in 1628 was recovered from the
Underwater archaeology the study of ships, aircraft and human settlements that have sunk under large bodies of water―is really a product of the last 50 years. The rapid growth of this new area of study has occurred because of the invention of better diving equipment. Besides the Swedish ship wreck(殘骸), underwater archacologists have made more exciting discoveries such as the 5,000-year-old boats in the Mediterranean Sea.
Underwater archacology can provide facts about the past. In ancient ports all over the world are ships sunken in the past 6,000 years. There are also sunken settlements in seas and lakes telling of people’s way of life and their systems of trade in ancient times. Underwater archacologists want to study these objects to add to the world’s knowledge of history , but they have to fight two enemies. One enemy is treasure hunters who dive for ancient artifacts that they can sell to collectors. Once sold, these objects are lost to experts. The second enemy is dredging machines (挖掘機)often used to repair ports. These machines destroy, wrecks and artifacts or bury them deeper under sand and mud. By teaching the public about the importance of underwater “museums” of the past, archaeologists are hoping to get support for laws to protect underwater treasures.

Underwater archaeology---the study of ship,…under large bodies of water.
One enemy is treasure hunters who dive….Once sold, these objects are lost to experts. C答案中注意的是dredging machines是在維修port在這個過程有破壞的是destroy wrecks and artifacts or bury them deeper under sand and mud.
66.A.

Being alone in outer space can be frightening. That is one reason why astronauts on solo(單獨的) space flight were given plenty of work to keep them 45 . They were also in constant communication with people on the earth, 46 , being with people from whom you cannot get away might be even harder than being alone. This is what happens on long submarine(潛水艇) voyages. It will also happen on 47 space flights in the future. Will there be special problems of adjustment under such conditions?
Scientists have studied the reactions of men to one another during long submarine voyages. They have found that the longer the voyage lasts, the more serious the problem of 48 is. When men are 49 together for a long period, they begin to feel uneasy. Everyone has little habits of speaking and behaving that are ordinarily acceptable. In the limited space over a long period of time, however, these little habits may become very 50 .
Apparently, although no one wants to be 51 all the time, everyone needs some degree of privacy. When people are enclosed together, they are in what is called a stress situation. That means that they are under an unusual amount of 52 or stress.
People who are well-adjusted are able to 53 stress situations better than others. That is one reason why so much care is taken in 54 our astronauts. These men undergo a long period of testing and training. One of the things tested is their behaviors under stress.
