Which is better, writing or typing (打字) ?These days, many college students have given up taking class notes by hand. 1,they type on laptops (手提電腦) because they think typing is fast, and they can write more notes. But a new research has 2 that taking notes by hand is in fact better for long-term memory.

In this research, students were asked to listen to a teacher. Some took notes by typing on a laptop. The 3 took notes by writing them down. Then they were given a test. Both groups got almost the same result in 4 the facts. But students who typed their notes did worse on conceptual (需要理解的) questions.

Why is it like this? The answer is that writing by hand is slow,5 it gives the students more time to think about the questions they don't understand. They are 6 to write down the main points. “This leads to a deeper understanding ,” say the scientists.

However, the students typing notes on a laptop usually just write down what the 7 says word for word in class. Although they can write more notes, they just type without really thinking 8 what they are typing. “This usually leads to mindless transcription (抄錄) ”,say the scientists.

So if you want to remember something better, write it by hand!

A 17-year-old girl,Xiao Yi,fell into a reservoir while washing hands after a tomb (墓) sweeping with her family. Her sister, her parents, her brother and some of her relatives jumped into the water one after another to save her, although they didn't have good swimming skills. Unfortunately, none of them succeeded. As a result,Xiao Yi and six of her family members lost their lives.

Three People Lost Their Lives in the Dongjiang River On May 1st,2015,seven middle school students went swimming in the Dongjiang River. So how do we keep safe I during a lightning storm?

If you are indoors, stay away from windows and doors during a lightning storm. Don’t take a shower or do some dishes, because lightning can travel through water. Turn off the TV and computer. My computer was once broken. Never use telephone. Lightning could travel through the phone line and hit you.

If you are outdoors during a lightning storm, never take shelter (避雨) under a tree, because the lightning could hit the tree and travel through the tree to hit you. Stay away from anything that is metal. Try to get in your car and close all the windows or go into a nearby building right away. If there's no building around, try to find a low place to stay in.
