As the saying goes, “A true friend is the best possession.” And I do have such friends.
In the dubbing contest last semester, our group faced a big problem. The computer couldn’t play our video, but one of my friends had the film we needed. So she went back home at once to bring it here. As a result, we got second prize.
I think a friend is someone who cares more for you than for himself. A friend is someone how gives you a hand when you are feeling down. So take good care of your friendships and cherish your best possession.

This morning, I went camping along a path in Green Natural Park with my friends. We were happy because it was a sunny day. We were expecting an enjoyable two-day holiday. On the way, we kept singing and making jokes.

However, in the afternoon, when we finished our picnic at one o’clock, it was dark and windy. Soon, there was a shower. Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to hide.

Twenty minutes passed and it was still raining. There were hours to go before we reached the campsite (野營地). It was even worse that our small compass (指南針) showed that we went to the wrong way. We had lost our way!

We had to make a quick decision as it was raining heavily. Chris said we could set up a tent to hide in, so Mary and Tom helped to set up the tent. Chris and I tried to make a fire to keep us warm. But we were unable to light the fire, as everything was wet. We dried ourselves, chatted and waited inside the tent. At about five o’clock, it stopped raining. We decided to give up the camping trip because all of us had been very tired.

This camping trip may not be very successful but we know each other better. And the most important thing I’ve learned from this trip is the importance of team spirit.

I remember the first time I met Alfred after years. He was sitting on a bench in the park. He looked very sad and cold. He hadn’t got a coat on and it started to rain. Usually, I don’t like to stop to speak to a stranger who looked like that. His shoes were well-cleaned and his clothes were quite smart, but he did not have an umbrella with him and he was getting wet in the rain. I stopped walking and said to him in a nice voice. “ Are you OK?” he looked up, and was surprised to see me. He cried out. “ Are you …” he couldn’t remember my name. I was also surprised. He was Alfred! “ I’m Tom, Alfred, what are you doing here?” I asked. He did not explain to me, but caught my hand, and asked how my life was like. I told him that I was out of job. So we found a café nearby and continued our conversation. I learned that he married with two children, and his wife was Sherry. I could not believe my ears. Twenty years ago his best friend was Linda, and Sherry was his worst enemy! They often had quarrels ( 爭吵) and fights in the play.

Alfred told me that he became a businessman when he graduated from the school and owned two companies in the city. I asked him why he was sitting in the rain in the park. He said that he had just had a quarrel with Sherry, and acting in the same way as when she was young, threw him out of the door and locked him out.
