Once there was a crow who was so thirsty that he was getting weak.He was too tired to fly,and the rocks he was walking on hurt his feet. He jltSt had to find water as soon as possible.
Then the crow saw an old house. He looked inside,but no one was at home. He walked into the back of the house and saw a clear glass pitcher by the door. It had some water left in it.
The crow was filled with joy. He stuck his beak into the pitcher for a life-saving sip. The crow thought about how cool and delicious the water would be. Oh,no!His beak was in the pitcher as far as it would go,but he still couldn’t reach the water.
The crow tried hard to reach the water,but that didn't help. His beak was just too short. The crow almost cried. He knew this was the only water nearby. He had to get the water out of that pitcher. He paced back and forth and wondered how he could get the water. Then he stubbed his toe on a pebble and tripped. The angry crow picked up the pebble with his beak. He almost threw it out of his way,but then he had an idea.
The crow hopped to the pitcher and dropped the pebble into it. The water went up just a bit. “My plan is working!” the crow thought. He carried one pebble at a time to the pitcher and dropped each one into the water. It was a lot of work. But pebble by pebble,the water slowly rose. At last the water was close to the top of the pitcher. The crow could now reach the water. He took a big,long drink. He was saved!
