Cats are the most popular pets among Americans. So it is not surprising there are many expressions about cats. Do you know any of them? Now let me introduce some to you.
Some cats like to catch small birds, like canaries. If someone looks very proud or satisfied with himself, we say he looks like the cat that ate the canary.
Sometimes, a cat likes to play with a small animal it catches. So if you play cat and mouse with someone, you change between different kinds of behavior when dealing with another person. For example, a child might offer something sweet to her little brother, and then take it away when reaches for it.
A cat will often catch a small animal and present it to its owner. The saying “that looks like something the cat dragged in (把…拖進(jìn)來)” describes something in bad condition.
A fat cat is a person with a lot of money.
There are many other expressions about cats in America. How interesting! Which kind of cat are you, or which kind would you like to be?
【小題1】Americans don’t like cats as pets very much.
【小題2】The canary is a kind of bird.
【小題3】If you have much money, we can call you a sad cat.
【小題4】We can say he looks like the cat that ate the canary if someone is very pleased with himself.

Molly had a bad day yesterday. When she got out of bed, she stepped on her favorite doll and broke her head off. She dropped her breakfast plate on the kitchen floor. At school her pencil broke in half. She fell on the ground heavily at break time and hurt her left leg. Billy put a glass of water on her head.
“I’m having a bad day,” she cried, throwing herself on her bed.
“What’s the matter, Molly?” her mom asked. Molly couldn’t stop crying to tell her mom about them.
“I know what will make you happy. Come with me,” her mom thought for a moment and said. They walked down the street to the park. Mom pushed Molly on the swing(秋千).
“Wow! This is fun,” Molly laughed.
They took their shoes off and played in the stream. Both of them ate bananas and ice creams. The ice creams dripped (滴) on to their clothes, but Mom didn’t mind.

根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,判斷下列句子是否正確,對(duì)的涂(A),錯(cuò)的涂(B)。

Plants are very important living things. Life could not go if there were no plants. This is because plants can produce food from the air, water and sunlight. Animals and man cannot produce food from the air, water and sunlight as plants do. Animals get their food by eating plants or other animals which eat plants. So animals and man need plants in order to live.

If you look carefully at the plants around you, you will find that there are two kinds of plants: flowering plants and non-flowering ones.

Flowering plants can make seeds. The seeds are protected by the fruits. Some fruits have one seed. Some have two, three or four. Some have many. But a few fruits have no seeds at all. An example of a fruit without seeds is the banana.

Most non-flowering plants don’t grow from seeds. They grow from spores (孢子). Spores are very, very small. Some spores are so small and light that they can float in the air. We may say that spores are quite the same as the seeds. When these spores fall on wet and shady places, they usually grow into new plants.

1.Plants are very important to life.

2.Both animals and plants can produce food from the air, water and sunlight.

3.Banana is a fruit that does not have seeds.

4.All the flowering plants have many seeds.

5.Spores can grow into new plants wherever they fall.
