When I lost in London, it had one of the thickest fog in years. You could hardly see your hands in front of your face.Cars and buses ran very slowly with their lights on, and their horns made big noises. When evening fell, it got even worse. All traffic came to a stop.Since I had an important meeting on the other side of the city, I wanted to walk.
Minutes later I was lost. Then I heard a young woman’s voice coming out of the fog.”I think you are lost. Can I help you?”I could hardly see her, but I was very glad to find another person out in the fog.I told her where I wanted to go and she knew very well how to get there.
As I followed her through the dark streets, I wondered how she found her way so easily.”I know this part of London quite well,”she answered.
But in such a fog it’s difficult to see anything,”I said.
With the fog or without the fog, it makes no difference to me.You see, I’m blind,”she answered.

Money doesn't grow on trees but sometimes a big family can help make it happen.
For years I wanted a flower garden. I'd spend hours thinking of different things I could plant there. We had five children, Matthew, Marvin, Helen and the twins, Alisa and Alan. I was too busy raising them to grow a garden.
We didn't have much money or time. Often when my children were little, one of them would want something that cost too much. I'd have to say, “Do you see a money tree outside? Money doesn't grow on trees, you know.”
Finally, all the five finished high school and college and were off on their own. I started thinking about having a garden again. I wasn't sure, though. I mean, gardens do cost money, and after all these years I was used to living with very little.
Then, one morning in spring, on Mother's Day, I was working in my kitchen. Suddenly, l heard cars outside. I looked out of the window and saw a new tree planted right in my yard. I knew it was a weeping willow (垂柳), because I saw things blowing around on all of its branches (樹枝). Then I put my glasses on and I couldn't believe what I saw. There was a money tree in my yard.
I went outside to look. It was true. There were dollar bills, one hundred of them, taped (綁) all over the tree. I could buy many flowers with one hundred dollars. There was also a note, “I still do something for you. Love, Marvin.” Marvin kept his words, too. He dug up a nice flower bed for me. My other children bought me tools and other things to help me, such as gardening books.
That was three years ago. My garden is now very pretty. It is just the way I wanted it. When I go out to take care of my flowers, I don't seem to miss my children as much as I once did. It feels like they are right there with me.
I live quite far to the north, where winters are long and cold, and summers are much too short. But every year now, when winter begins, I look out of my window and think of the flowers. I'll see next spring in my little garden. I think about what my children did for me, and I get tears (淚) in my eyes every time. I'm still not sure that money grows on trees. But I know love does.
