Anna Sewell was born in England in 1820. She wrote a very popular children^ book Black Beauty. When she was about fourteen,she hurt her foot and was unable to walk any more. Anna began to get around in horse-drawn carriages and loved horses as a result. In 1871.a doctor told Anna that she had only eighteen months to live. She was very weak but decided to write a book about horses. Five years later,she was still working on Black Beauty^ her only book. The book was finished and published in 1877. Anna died a few months after that,so she never learnt of the book's big success. The novel is about the life of the horse Black Beauty. Anna told the story through a horse's mouth. She wanted people to be kind to horses and other animals.
