“No train is starting. Why is he in such a hurry?” the old man thought to himself. He went up to the man and asked, “May I help you?” As soon as the man saw the porter, he stopped running.
“Can I catch the 10:35 train to London?” the man asked. He looked worried. The old porter looked at him for a few seconds and said, “Well, sir. Angela Zou hardly writes text messages now. Sitting at her office desk, Zou asks her iPhone, where they should go to eat. When it buzzes seconds later, she lifts it to her ear for her friend's reply. The conversation goes back and forth through these pieces of words before they decide on the place for lunch.

Like millions of others across Asia, Zou is using WeChat, a smartphone app(應(yīng)用程序)developed in China, to send voice messages, snapshots(快照)and emoticons(表情符號)to her friends. Now that its walkietalkie-style(對講機(jī)式)messages have become everywhere, she said typing feels like hard work.
WeChat's popularity has grown quickly since it came into use in 2011. Tencent, the company that developed the app, announced in September that its users had doubled in six months to 200 million. Most users are in China, though WeChat is being used across Asia and already has users in the US and the UK.
Historically, it has proved difficult for Chinese internet firms to develop in foreign countries. But WeChat is becoming the first Chinese social media application with the possibility to go to the whole world.
WeChat is similar to the popular US-based mobile messaging service WhatsApp, but it does more. It comes in eight languages including English, Arabic and Russian.
"I used WhatsApp before I came back to China from studying abroad and found all my friends were using WeChat," said Zou, who is 25. "Now when I want to contact someone I use WeChat first." The app's features include Look Around, which allows users to chat to strangers nearby, while Moments works like Instagram(圖片分享).

小題2:What is WeChat used to do?
小題3:Which company of China developed WeChat?

World AIDS(愛滋病)Day is held on December lst each year. It is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against AIDS and to show their support for people living with AIDS. It's also an opportunity for us to learn the facts about AIDS. We can use the knowledge to take care of our own health and the health of others. "People are afraid of AIDS because they know little about it," said Wang Chongrun, head of a group to help children living with AIDS. Wang went to the villages and gave lessons about AIDS to the people there. “Many of these children are just as healthy as others," Wang said. “Even if they have AIDS, it’s still safe to eat and play with them. Do you want to live a happier, less stressful (有壓力的) life? Try laughing for no reason at all. That’s how thousands of people start their day at Laughter Clubs around the world — and many doctors now think that having a good laugh might be one of the best ways to stay healthy.
(1)The first Laughter Club was started in Mumbai, India, in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria. “Young children laugh about 300 times a day. Adults laugh between 7 and 15 times a day,” says Dr. Kataria. “Everyone’s naturally good at laughing — it’s the universal language. We want people to feel happy with their lives.” There are now more than 500 Laughter Clubs in India and over 1,300 worldwide.
(2)Many doctors are also interested in the effects (效果) of laughter on our health. According to a 5-year study at the UCLA School of Medicine in California, with laughing there is less stress in the body.(3) Laughter improves our health against illness by about 40%.
So, what happens at a Laughter Club? I went along to my nearest club in South London to find out. I was quite nervous at the beginning of the class, to be honest — I wasn’t interested in laughing with a group of strangers, and I was worried about looking stupid. Our laughter teacher told us to clap our hands and say “ho ho ho, ha ha ha,” while looking at each other. However, our bodies can’t tell the difference between fake laughter and real laughter, so they still produce the same healthy effects.
Surprisingly, it works! After ten minutes everybody in the room was laughing for real — and some people just couldn’t stop! At the end of the class I was surprised by how relaxed and comfortable I felt. So if you’re under stress, then start laughing. You might be very pleased with the results!

小題2:將(2)譯成漢語。

小題3:寫出③處的反意疑問句句。

“If you consider getting older with needing less sleep, it’s not true!” says Robert Oexman, D.C., director of the Sleep to Live Institute. Besides disease, medicine and pain, if partients complain of bad sleep, Dr. Oexman looks at their nighttime habits, where the problem almost always exists. So, how are you destroying your sleep?
Watch TV until you fall asleep
It has nothing to do with what you watch. It’s you who face TV’s bright light. That’s the reason. So even if you nod off in front of the TV, for example, you probably won’t stay asleep for long.
So an hour before bedtime, treat yourself like a baby: a warm bath. But no reading or writing on your computer before bed or in the middle of the night.
Exercise too close to bedtime
Remember how poorly you sleep when you have a fever, never really feeling rested? Well, heavy exercise too close to bedtime has the same effect--it raises your body temperature, so when you lay your sleepy head on the pillow, your body temperature is normal.
Eat fatty, heavy foods too close to bedtime
If you’ve ever tried to go to sleep after eating a fatty meal, you’ve probably found the discomfort of stomach acids(胃酸)less than good for falling asleep or staying asleep.
So try to eat your last meal of the day at least 2-3 hours before bedtime. Should you feel hungry before bed? So have a bowl of cereal or a small boiled potato. Or maybe have a serving of jasmine rice.
