(1)I was only an 11-year-old girl when my parents told me that we would soon move to America. We were on the bus then. I was crying, and some people on the bus were turning around to look at me. I remember that I could not bear(忍受)the thought of never hearing the radio program for school children again which I listened to every morning.
In fact, I think I cried very little when I was saying goodbye to my friends and relatives. When we were leaving, I even felt a little excited because I thought about all the places I was going to see—the strange and magical places I had known only from books and pictures.
The first four years in America taught me the importance of optimism(樂觀), but the idea did not come to me at once. For the first two years in New York I was really lost—having to study in three schools and I (2)________most of my time(2)_________learning the English language.I hardly had any time for fun. Sometimes I did not quite know what I was or what I should be. Mother remarried(再婚), and things became even harder for me. It took me some time to get used to my stepfather(繼父). I was often sad, and saw no end to “the hard times.”
I had to do many things for the family since I knew English better than everyone else at home. I wrote letters, filled out forms, translated(翻譯)all kinds of information and took my grandparents to the doctor and translated there.
Luckily, things got better and better later and almost all common troubles went away at last  From those experiences I have learned one important rule: Something good is certain to happen in the end when you do not give up, and just wait a little!
小題1:將(1)句譯成中文:_________________________________________________________
Why did the writer feel excited when they were leaving?
_______________________________________________________________________________
Some time passed before my stepfather and I got used to each other.
_______________________________________________________________________________
小題5: 在文中找出主題句:___________________________________________________________

2:devoted;to
小題3:Because she thought about all the places she was going to  see (-the strange and magical places she had known only from books and pictures)。
小題4:It took me some time to get used to my stepfather.
小題5:Something good is certain to happen in the end when you do not give up, and just wait a little!

I hardly had any time for fun.
When we were leaving, I even felt a little excited because I thought about all the places I was going to see—the strange and magical places I had known only from books and pictures. Because she thought about all the places she was going to  see (-the strange and magical places she had known only from books and pictures)。
小題4:Some time passed before my stepfather and I got used to each other. It took me some time to get used to my stepfather.
From those experiences I have learned one important rule: Something good is certain to happen in the end when you do not give up, and just wait a little! Something good is certain to happen in the end when you do not give up, and just wait a little!

Are you in a bad mood? Don’t worry! According to a new Australian study, a bad mood can actually be good for you. The study showed that being sad could help people to judge others more correctly and was also good for the memory.

At present, more and more people are crazy about travelling. Why do people travel?  “To see more of the world.” many people would say. But travelling abroad now means much more than that for the growing number of Chinese tourists. Of course it offers us good opportunities to meet people from other countries, learn about their culture and customs.
According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), more than 1 billion people travelled to another country in 2012. In 2012, Chinese people travelled abroad 30 percent more than in 2011. The prosperity (繁榮) of the tourism industry can also bring both our country and foreign countries great economic benefits (經(jīng)濟利益). Chinese people usually travel abroad in large tourist groups and visit several countries in one trip.
Chinese people don’t just travel for sightseeing. The China International Travel Service Company said that all their tour trips sold out a month before Christmas Day. Stores offered discounts (打折) during that time, so shopping in Europe and the United States is popular among Chinese travelers.
In December, China is going through a very cold winter. So many people like to go to some countries in Southeast Asia because the weather there is quite pleasant.
The improvement of living standards means more Chinese can travel abroad. But many of them don’t have a sense of public manners. A report by Living Social website in March 2012 even listed Chinese as the world’s second worst tourists.
If you want to change that bad name, remember to avoid the following: littering, spitting, snatching bus seats, line-jumping, taking off shoes in public, talking loudly and smoking in non-smoking areas. Besides, we should learn some necessary manners of foreign countries.
小題1:What are more and more people crazy about at present?

小題3:Where is shopping popular among Chinese travelers?
小題4:Why do people like to go to some countries in Southeast Asia in winter?

Having a teenager at home can be a real headache. Many teenagers smoke, wear strange hairstyle and even fight. Basically (基本上) , they are often taking risks.
Earlier studies have shown that teenagers are more likely to make irrational decisions than people from any other age group, including children and adults. Is it that teenagers are too young to tell right from wrong? Not really. So what’s the reason?
According to Laurence, a teacher from a US university, the reason is that teenagers care a lot about how their peers (同齡人) view them—that is “peer influence”.
As children enter their teenage years, they spend more time with their friends and classmates, and also they care more about what they think of them. This makes teenagers make decisions without thinking about the costs.
In a test, a group of teenagers were asked to play a video driving game. When they played with their friends watching around them, they took more chances and drove more carelessly because that would increase their possibility of winning. But when they played alone, they drove more safely.
Why do peers have such a big influence on teens’ behavior?
As Laurence sees it, a teenager’s brain is like a car with a good accelerator (油門) but a weak brake (剎車). The “accelerator” is fully developed by teenage years while the “brake” is still not fully developed. When teenagers are watched by their peers, they usually push hard on the accelerator. With their weak brake, it is likely that they are going to end up in an accident. But the good news is that a violent (暴力的) teenager doesn’t necessarily become a violent adult. About two-thirds to three-quarters of violent youth grow out of it. “They get more self-controlled.”
小題1:What does the underlined word “irrational” in the 2nd paragraph mean?
A.Quick.B.Crazy.
C.Careful.D.Correct.

A.They like difficult tasks.
B.They don’t care about costs.
C.They are too young to tell right from wrong.
D.They care a lot about what their peers think of them.
小題3:How does Laurence explain the influence of peer influence on teens’ behavior?
A.By using a metaphor (比喻).
B.By giving examples.
C.By presenting research findings.
D.By performing an in-depth analysis (分析).
小題4:According to the text, with peers around them, teenagers tend to (傾向于) ______.
A.use more self-control
B.become more careful about what they do
C.perform better than when they are alone
D.focus more on short-term benefits(利益)
小題5:What can we learn from the text?
A.Teenagers are easy to have traffic accidents.
B.Peer influence is bad on teenagers.
