The first time I saw Jim Wooten I really understood him. He was a great TV news reporter. When he was reporting in Rwanda, one heartbreaking moment made a deep impression on me. When the camera showed all of the children who were dying, suffered from terrible diseases, Jim ended his piece by saying that when he got home, the first thing he was going to do was to put his arms around his own children. Then I realized that he was different, that he didn’t fall into any of the modern television-news tricks, that he was not giving us any awful, artificial(假的) television-journalist reports out of(出于) pity. Instead, I was watching a real reporter with a gift(天賦) for both words and slight differences.

Then I read his book, We Are All the Same, about his friendship with Xolani Nkosi, a South African boy who became the international spokesman for AIDS(艾滋病). It is about the friendship between Wooten and a black child who was ten years old and already dying of AIDS. It is also a book about a great teacher and his student. But the teacher-the one with real wisdom and understanding about life-is the little boy, not the journalist. And, finally, it’s about a love story of Gail Johnson, Nkosi’s white mother who does her best to save the boy, and their love for each other. When reading the book, I felt touched from time to time.
小題1:How did Jim Wooten feel when he saw the dying children in Rwanda?

_________________________________________________________________.
小題5:Why did Nkosi’s mother do everything possible to save the boy?
_________________________________________________________________.
小題6:What’s the writer’s attitude to Jim Wooten? How do you know that?
_________________________________________________________________.

小題1:He felt very sad./He was heartbroken.
小題2:He would give us some awful, artificial television-journalist reports out of pity./He would fall into some of the modern television-news tricks.

小題6:He respected Jim./He admired Jim. The writer wrote/mentioned that Jim was a great TV news reporter.(3分題)

He felt very sad./He was heartbroken.
He would give us some awful, artificial television-journalist reports out of pity./He would fall into some of the modern television-news tricks.
根據(jù)文章第一段“Jim ended his piece by saying that when he got home, the first thing he was going to do was to put his arms around his won children.” By saying that when he got home, the first thing he was going to do was to put his arms around his won children.
小題4:此題的問題是“選擇疑問句”,這也是整篇文章相對簡單的一題(1分題),根據(jù)文章第二段中內(nèi)容“But the teacher-the one with real wisdom and understanding about life—is the little boy, not the journalist.”,可知本題答案為The little boy。
Because she loved the boy./Because the boy was dying of AIDS.
Her espected/love/admired him. He was a great TV news reporter。

Wolffy
Wolffy always wears an orange cap with a yellow patch and has a scar under his eye. He always thinks of clever plans to catch the goats, but he usually ends up being defeated. His failures to catch goats are met with angry scolding and violence from his wife, such as being hit over the head with a frying pan. Even so, his love for Wolnie never disappears. Sometimes he is seen as a respectable cartoon figure because of his faithfulness to his wife and his effort to catch goats.

Wolnie
Wolnie is Wolffy’s wife, who is always dressed in a red robe with black and white trims. She always hits him with her frying pan whenever his plans fail; however, she does love her husband.
