Ⅲ.任務(wù)型閱讀
English is an important international language, but that doesn’t mean it's easy to learn.① Many experts have tried to make English easier to learn, but they weren’t always successful.
In 1930,Professor C. K. Ogden of Cambridge University invented Basic English. It had only 850 words and Ogden said most people could learn it in just thirty hours. The problem was that people who learned Basic English could write and say simple messages, but they couldn’t understand the answers in “real” English! It was also impossible to explain a word if it wasn’t in the Basic English word list.
R.E. Zachrisson,a university professor in Sweden, decided that②對英語學(xué)習(xí)者來說最大的問題是拼寫,so he invented a language with the name Anglic. Anglic was similar ③ English, but with much simpler spelling,
“father” became “faadher” and “new” became “nue”. Unluckily,Anglic never became popular.
In the age of international communication through the Internets new form of English might appear. A large number of the world's emails are in English and include examples of “Netlingo” like OIC (Oh,I see) and TTYL (Talk to you later) . In another fifty years,English might not be used. We might all speak fluent Internetish!

2 You need to have something strong around you to protect you from falling objects. Do not stand near walls or windows and stay out of the kitchen. The kitchen is dangerous because of many glass objects.
3 Stay away from buildings and trees. If you are in a car, pull over to a place where there are no trees or tall buildings and stay in the car. If you are close to the sea,try to get as far away from the water as possible. Earthquakes can cause huge waves that can really harm the people nearby.

In the United States, sixteen is a special age when teenagers can begin driving. There's often a special celebration for a girl's 16th birthday —a big party called Sweet-16.
