Dear Dongdong
I have been in Hong Kong for a whole week. I will stay here for another week.
Hong Kong is really a great place to visit. There’s so much to see and do here. And I’ve done so many wonderful things.
I’ve taken the cable car(纜車) to the Peak Galleria (山頂廣場). I’ve been to Hong Kong Racing Museum. I’ve known a lot about horse racing. I’ve also visited Ladies’ Street. In the street I bought some beautiful clothes for my mother. Last night I went to a concert. Chinese traditional music has always been my favourite. This morning I went to Ocean Park and watched the dolphins perform. Dolphins are so clever. They can jump from the water to touch a ball, sway (搖擺) their bodies to music, kiss people and even do math. Mr Host is going to take me to an Italian film festival in Hong Kong Cultural Centre tomorrow. I’m so excited because I have never seen an Italian film before. But some people say they’re boring.
That’s all. Best wishes!

Problems
Solutions(解決辦法)
My best friend Jack goes on vacation a lot and always brings me something expensive. I don’t have enough money to get him anything every time. What should I do?
Bob
Souvenirs don’t have to cost a lot. Show him you are thinking of him. That’s important. Imagine how excited he would be if he got a postcard from you!
Miller
I have a crush on a movie star. I really wish I did not. I have had dreams about him, and I even find myself wishing to be his wife. Are there any ways to stop this?
Alice
A star is cute, but what else? What do you think is important for person? Being good-looking or kind-hearted? Remember that the star in the movie probably isn’t what he is like in real life. So don’t let yourself spend too much time on the star. Staying with friends or taking more activities will help you get him out of your mind.
Miller
I’m always arguing with my parents. I hate it, but I can’t help it. What can I do?
Harry

Sometimes it seems that our parents just don’t know us well, doesn’t it? When I’m arguing with my parents, I usually take a walk and calm myself down. It gives me time to clear my head. That means I can talk to them and solve(v.解決) the problem. Have a try—parents are easier to talk with when you are cool and calm.

What are you going to do if you are in a burning house? How will you escape? Do you know how to save yourself? Please read the following passage.
Escaping a fire is a serious matter. Knowing what to do during a fire can save your life. It is important to know the ways you can use and show them to everyone in the family, such as stairways and fire escapes, but not lifts.
From the lower floors of the buildings, escaping through windows is possible; learn the best way of leaving by windows with the least chance of serious injury.
The second floor window is usually not very high from the ground. An average(平均高度的) person, hanging by the finger-tips will have a drop of about six feet to the ground. It is about the height of an average man. Of course, it is safer to jump a short way than to stay in a burning building.
Windows are also useful when you are waiting for help. Be sure to keep the door closed. Or smoke and fire may be drawn into the room. Keep your head low at the window to be sure you get fresh air rather than smoke that may have leaked(滲) into the room.
On a second or third floor, the best windows for escape are these which open onto a roof. From the roof a person can drop to the ground more safely. Dropping onto cement(水泥) might end in injury. Bushes and grass can help to break a fall.

You either have it, or you don’t-a sense of direction. But why is it that some people could find their way across the Sahara without a map while others can lose themselves in the next street?
Scientists say we’re all born with a sense of direction, but it is not properly understood how it works. One theory is that people with a good sense of direction have simply worked harder at developing it. Research being carried out at Liverpool University supports this idea and suggests that if we don’t use it, we lose it.
“Children as young as seven have the ability to find their way around,” says Jim Martland, research director of the project. “However, if they are not allowed out alone or are taken everywhere by car, they never develop the skills.”
Jim Martland also emphasizes that young people should be taught certain skills to improve their sense of direction. He makes the following suggestions:
If you are using a map, turn it so that it relates to(與……有聯(lián)系) the way you are facing.
If you leave your bike in a strange place, put it near something like a big stone or a tree-something easy to recognize. Note landmarks on the route as you go away from your bike. When you return, go back along the same route.
Simplify(簡化) the way for finding your direction by using lines such as streets in a town, streams, or wells in the countryside to guide you. Count your steps so that you know how far you have gone and note any landmarks such as towerblocks or hills which can help to find out where you are.
Now you will never get lost again!
